(FanNation) Interesting Redskins may sign running back Larry Johnson, who is as unhinged as Skins owner Dan Snyder and as incompetent as coach Jim Zorn. So he'll fit in fine   (fannation.com) divider line 66

WHAT WAS THAT VINNY?! A FORMER PRO BOWLER IS NOW A FREE AGENT?!

GRAB THE MONEY BAGS, LETS GET HIM!

I don't have a huge problem with this. The guy has talent. Let the Skins take a flier on him. Maybe he just needed a change of scenery.

the only sensible choice here is to offer him a 6 year 90 million dollar contract

Please Please Please, he and Deangelo Hall will be a great influence in the locker room.

And slowly, as time ticks away, the Redskins became the Raiders of the NFC.

Heh, and Snyder is not quite 44 years old...he might own this team for 40 more years.

/Hates Redskins, been living in the area for over 29 years.

It's a very similar dynamic: an owner who will not yield any control of the team, and thus surrounds himself with a pliant staff of yes-men who just do what he says.

Except that Al Davis, at least at one point, did know football. Lil' Danny made his money in "direct marketing."

God that's so sad because it's so true. The moment he was cut I thought "oh shiat, he's definitely a Redskin now".

A 2000yd single season rusher doesn't need a change of scenery. Dude went over the productivity cliff, as virtually all running backs do (see Tomlinson, LaDainian, 2009). Talent or no, the guy is done. Too bad KC didn't think to try to rape the 'Skins for a few draft picks before releasing him.

i'm surprised the redskins didn't try to get him before he was released. every time he gets in trouble, i think snyder is going to be on the phone with KC going "I WILL GIVE YOU 6 FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS, 100 SEASON TICKETS, AND WE'LL SELL 'KANSAS CITY CHIEF LEMONADE' AT FEDEX FIELD AND CHARGE $20 IN EXCHANGE FOR LARRY JOHNSON"

Those 6 First Round draft picks are for years 2020 and beyond.. I'm pretty sure we've traded all of our upcoming draft picks.

Hey, we got him for league minimum and I'd have no problem doing the same for Larry Johnson. Fortunately, we are pretty tight against the salary cap this year so I doubt we do sign him. If even 1 other team is interested we won't be hard to outbid. The thing is that LJ supposedly wants to go to a contender in order to get as much gamefilm as possible before 2010 so we may luck out since we'll be lucky to win another game this year. He won't do any better behind our line than the other 3 30 year running backs already on the roster.

Recently cut Larry Johnson vs. the Chiefs on Sunday would be oh so awesome.

if salary cap is an issue, just release some of the 2nd and 3rd string o-linemen. i mean really, they're just sitting on the bench, taking up money and not doing anything!

Good, Id rather they didn't sign any free agents for a couple years and only add through the draft. They are going to need a lot of cap space in 2012 when their young guys are up for new contracts.

foo monkey 2009-11-10 02:08:15 PM
He can't be worse than Clinton Portis. Johnson may be locker room cancer, but Portis isn't inspiring anyone by NOT PRACTICING. If he is worse, well that's just more gas for the fire. :)

stupid stupid stupid

Ladell Betts is one of the most underrated backs in the league. He takes a ton of rushes, produces almost as well as Portis, and (knock on wood) doesn't fumble. Oh, and he has just as many TDs as Portis.

We don't need to replace an over-the-hill RB with another one. Let's develop some players instead of letting other teams suck their talent and give us their shells of former players.

I'm convinced that he was on Carl Peterson's fantasy team for quite a while, and that's why kept LJ.

I was surprised Pioli didn't cut him in his first press conference

Hey buddy!! There's a 3 way tie for TD rushes on this team. You can't forget hunter the punter took one into the end zone against the Giants.

The Loaf 2009-11-10 03:21:38 PM
Jim Zorn is not incompetent, he's in over his head. There's a difference.

The jackass that promoted Jim Zorn from offensive coordinator (a position he held for all of two weeks) to head coach is incompetent.

Why Would I Read the Article 2009-11-10 03:57:06 PM
VvonderJesus: And slowly, as time ticks away, the Redskins became the Raiders of the NFC.

Except Davis' Raiders were winners from the moment he got there in the early 60s until the mid-late 80s, including multiple divisional titles, conference championship appearances, and 3 super bowl victories; Snyder's Redskins have never been even remotely a threat to win the title, and have only mustered 3 winning seasons (never with more than 10 wins) and a paltry 2-3 playoff record in his tenure.

Davis has senility and dementia to partly explain the Raiders' from grace. Snyder is just an idiot.

Wow, I didn't know that. I guess it makes sense. As the number of punts approaches infinity, the number of touchdowns he'll score has to approach a limit of at least one.

Doesn't Portis have a concussion??

The Redskins would be absolutely retarded to take LJ and anyone who thinks he just needs a change of scenery pick-me-up is about as equally retarded.

LJ was at best, a slightly above average RB that had an amazing OLine for a short time to run through. Had Priest Holmes never been taken out by Roids Merriman, we wouldn't even know who this assclown is.

What's wrong with Betts filling in until Portis heals up? I mean at 2-6 it isn't like the Redskins are bucking for a wildcard spot or anything. Its just a waste of cap space to take LJ.

Nothing is wrong with it, but Dan Snyder is such a moron that he's taken heat away from Al Davis in the shiatty owner mockery club.

With LJ they can win 8 in a row and finish 10-6 and grab a wildcard spot and then march through the playoffs and win the superbowl! This is a contending team just missing 1 piece to win it all!
