An eyewitness said Kahn was sprinting across Ninth Ave. when he was struck by the bus, which was turning left from W. 53rd St.
It doesn't matter if the driver had been busted for texting or not in the past that was not the case in this situation. If anything it looks as if he was making a turn and some kid tried to beat out the bus. Unlike a car a multi ton bus cannot stop on a dime. The kid on the other hand could have waited until the bus crossed over. But considering the lack of details in the article I really can't say who was at fault other than basing it on the snipet from the eyewitness.

Yeah, it just seems like this is the unluckiest guy on the planet right now, or maybe the pancake kid is the unluckiest, I don't know, I'm not a Doctor.

But as his 1st day back on the job after the texting issue, it sure doesn't look good for him. Especially since now they're saying they wanted to fire him previously.

MTA bus driver who hit FIT student had been suspended for texting

I'm thinking he was enraged to the point of vehicular homicide by the fitness of the boy.

That is what happens when you make fun of a retarded bus driver.

Friends and family at Kahn's packed funeral yesterday were outraged to learn he had a history of texting from the driver's seat.

"That guy shouldn't have never been allowed to drive people around. It's not right," said a relative. "Seth deserved a better ending than that

They should have taught him not to run in front of moving traffic.

I don't know... Ever since you got infected with a virus maybe? ;)

I am not getting any popups. Of course, I'm using Google Chrome, so maybe they're blocked or something. If you use Internet Explorer, try switching to a new browser and see if that helps. That is... assuming they aren't virus/malware popups. If they're selling you some security software then you're very likely infected.

Investigators said he used his phone to post disparaging comments about his passengers to Facebook while on duty.

That's just funny, considering how most bus passengers are idiots and most bus drivers don't have the fortitude of character to be able to handle them with finesse and grace as their job duly requires.

I'll bet it's less like "Douchebag bus driver kills kid" and more like "Dumbass pedestrian gets pwned." Pedestrians tend to think the laws of physics don't apply to them. I can't count how many idiots I've seen just walk right into traffic without even bothering to look anywhere but straight ahead. One dumb ho with a cellphone glued to her ear very calmly strolled into the path of my car and stopped right there in the middle of the damned road while yakking away. I had to lay on the horn and scream at her to get her to move out of the way.

I've found bus drivers to do amazingly well given the sorts of passengers they have to deal with. And yeah, listening to bus driver stories is a great to lose hope in humanity.

I used to think I had super strength and any car that hit me would be demolished. Of course, I was three or four at the time. Mom managed to discourage me from attempting this feat by saying it would be mean to break some person's car like that. So, for the good of society, I never used my super power.

Not kidding. I really did think that and that's how my mom kept me from getting killed.

Poor bus driver. He'll have this hanging over him for the rest of his life just because an idiot tried to cross a road unsafely. The fact he texted while driving in the past is immaterial. And - asining tag? really?

Downtown Paterson NJ is the place to vacation if you want to experience the heart-pounding terror of people running in front of your motor vehicle. It's as if it's a local sport or something. While you're there be sure to visit The Great Falls, it's lovely.

He should have been fired already. Then again, the union no doubt got involved to save his job. They should have fired him, told the union to stuff it, let them go on strike over it, get fired too.
