I've met quite a few overweight vegetarians in my life. One of them was my date's friend on a double-date. Unfortunately, we ended up at a vegetarian restaurant. The food wasn't bad, but the fact that they didn't have beer made me stabby.

I was raised vegetarian, and I hated it. I would break the "rules" every chance I had. Some of the food is ok, but only when you are eating it because you like it, not when it is the only option being forced upon you.

I can't really speak for him, but I think he meant why do -some- vegetarians look wan, pale, mal-nourished? Heck, I seen some who looked gray (maybe not as bad as long-time colloidal silver advocates, but still pretty wrong looking).

The truth is probably because they are mal-nourished in some fundamental manner, whatever it is. I am sure there are ways not to be malnourished and eat a strictly vegetarian (and even vegan) diet, but it probably requires a bit of research to make sure you are getting everything needed (that, or just drink more alfalfa smoothies?)...

If you could have handed out NY strip or a dry aged ribeye for Halloween, my ten year old son would have you canonized. I don't eat meat. He lives on it. As a mother who would like to push her animal friendly agenda on her child, I make him the food he wants and I shut the fark up. Sometimes I make him take it out of the package for me, though. That little white plastic blood sucker upper thing makes me woozy.
