Fark Party
Host: pattonx
Description: Fark / Mentally Incontinent joint book signing, Thursday Nov. 12 at the Borders Books Stonestown Galleria, San Francisco CA. First 10 people can punch Joe Peacock in a meaty location of their choosing
Date/Time: November 12, 2009 - 07:00 PM (local time)
Party Info: Drew Curtis (author of It's Not News, It's Fark!) and Joe Peacock (author of this party invite, as well as Mentally Incontinent) cordially invite everyone in the known universe to join us as we talk a lot, and then sign our books and probably drink beer.

Okay, DEFINITELY drink beer. But we need help finding a location for after the signing - if you know SF bars near the place and want to recommend one, post it in the thread. I'll buy the winning suggestor's drinks for the night (no VSOP, though).

Location: Borders Books, Stonestown Galleria
233 Winston Drive
San Francisco, CA
(415) 731-0665

Official store event page:

http://www.borders.com/online/store/EventView?city=&state=&zipCode=&within=&all _ stores=&selectedStoreId=10779&eventId=321947&

Drew will be reading from his book, It's Not News, It's Fark! and will discuss how the media is just plain silly. And there will likely be discussions about the squirrel with large nuts.

Joe will be reading from Twilight and/or New Moon, just to see what it's like to read from a bestselling book without any actual writing in it.

And yes, the offer for punches upon my person is legit.

Oh, so it's really small? That's kinda sad. I had referred to it, I guess I just mistook what it could mean.

darklingscribe 2009-11-09 03:32:02 PM
I might just drop in. I mean it's not every day you get to punch an complete stranger without worrying about legal (or libel) repercussions.

fritopendejo 2009-11-09 03:32:24 PM
The location of the punch is our choice? I'll sock him smack-dab in the vas defrens.

When I write a book can I whore it on Fark as much as this one?

larsoncc 2009-11-09 03:47:30 PM
Joe, I just wanted to say "congrats" to you on your book. Kid = no travel right now, but I really would have liked to come out.

Just take a swing around back, then. If you're lucky, you might make your wrist disappear.

/I've got to stop clicking gorgor links

pattonx [TotalFark] 2009-11-09 03:51:02 PM
I have no clue what's good around there for bars / drinking places, so if anyone has a suggestion, fire away.

And no, my vas deferens is not meaty enough to be punched. Do not punch my vas deferens.

Yes! I don't know that side of SF, but there's got to be some bars around there as it's right next to SF State.

sadly, there are few good ones in that area. as SF State is a commuter school, the nearby bars tend to be divey, and not in the good divey way. gotta go up to the inner sunset or inner richmond for better spots. I recommend Clement Street's 540 club.

I thought I was the only one in the city who knows about Fark.

Also, there's a Borders Books at Stonestown? Who knew? Someday I must go past the Apple store and the food court.

It's not as good as the Border's in Union Square, but it will do in a pinch. Stonestown's a bizarre little Chinese/Filipino outpost, filled with families and chain stores and things one doesn't normally see in many parts of the city.

won't make the books, but i'd vote for some bars up 280 around mission or bernal heights. there's plenty of cool stuff around there (kilowatt, dirty thieves, the phoenix)

Satan's Superfluous Nipple 2009-11-10 03:00:45 AM
Wow, another thread about this craptastic book. Will there be another one tomorrow? And the day after that?

Just a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing that you fancy yourself as "intense."

pattonx [TotalFark] 2009-11-10 04:22:28 PM
Let's turn this into a Fark party. somebody pick a place nearby, and i'll update the party listing whatever and headline. I dunno SF at all, so I don't want to go picking out of the phone book all willy nilly.

starfirebrightly 2009-11-10 11:44:39 PM
Sorry can't join you guys but...HOLY FARK I GOT INVITED TO A PARTY, THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!!!!!!

melaniethepanda [TotalFark] 2009-11-11 02:25:41 AM
Unfortunately there is not much in the way of good food or bars in that area. Everything good is more towards the city. There are a few random places scattered throughout the Sunset and West Portal if you guys want to stick in the "outskirts" area.

Aeonite [TotalFark] 2009-11-11 11:35:52 AM
The Sunset is not San Francisco. You might as well hang out in Daly City. Get thee to the Mission.
