This was merely a Renaissance Faire brawl that got out of hand and received a boatload of publicity, plain and simple.

They were all hugging, toasting to everyone's health with leather mugs full of ginger ale, and shouting "HUZZAH!" after it was all over.

Not at all. It obviously was axe and spear night at the stadium. The first 500 fans at the gate received a commemorative axe or spear.
