(Guardian) Stop me if you've heard this one before: fan hits Morrissey in the head in the middle of a concert, and he storms off the stage. Sorry for painting such a vulgar picture, but I guess he started something he couldn't finish

Jesus, that was easy. You're no StopArrestingMe, that's for sure.
Getting shiat thrown at you isn't a good enough reason to leave. If fans in attendance really gave a crap, they'd beat the snot out of whoever threw the bottle.
I think Morrisey's become music's equivalent of the poor sucker who has to collect golf balls off the driving range, he's there now to primarily a target for flying objects.
Morrissey's fans normally go up on stage and try to kiss and hug him, and it's really nothing to him, so the beer bottle definitely made Morrissey miserable now.
That's the thing about the Moz: even his fans don't really like him. I absolutely love the Smiths, and I think Morrissey is a tofu-eating douchebag and would have laughed with delight to see him get hit in the head with a plastic cup, causing him to storm off in a hissy.
PS. When I say "fans," I mean "the vast majority of those who actively listen to and enjoy his music." As with any artist who has made it this big, there will indeed be people who are totally obsessed and in love with him. I just mean the normal folks.
I adore the Smiths and a lot of his solo work, but Axl Rose is a more dependable live performer than Morrissey. Those tickets should be printed "Caveat Emptor".
I have a dream. A dream that I know will never come true, but when stories like this surface I remember my dream and I gives me a little comfort. In my dream there's a Smiths reunion. As they take the stage to play the first song of the first show of the reunion Johnny Marr turns to Morrissey and smashes his guitar right across Morrissey's face. Then, as Moz is laying in a bloody heap, Marr jams the neck of the broken guitar down his throat and eats a bacon cheeseburger (cooked rare for extra meaty goodness) while reminiscing about what a douche Morrissey has been over the last 25 years.
Remember seeing him in Concert @ the old Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in the early 90's. He was literally swarmed with about 15-20 Teen BOYS, one hugged him from behind and kissed him on the back of the neck.
He also took off for about 5 minutes before returning to do a full show. I initially thought he woudl act like a diva, but was surprised at how much resiliance he had. He acted quite professionally in my opinion with returning to the stage that night. I would not have blamed him then if he did not return.
This crap is not something new you would find at a Morrissey concert
