the Stupak amendment just passed. that one cuts out any chance of any federal money being spent on abortions. Which really wasn't a chance anyway because of the Hyde act. But this gives the Blue Dogs more cover.

the next vote is on Boehner's amendment. (which I'm guessing will fail)

then the final vote for the whole enchilada.

IronTom: did they lock the Republicans out again?

The Republicans were locked out? I thought they weren't present because they were hamming it up for the teabaggers outside the Capitol Building....

...instead of, you know, inside doing their jobs.

What is what is a tautology.

Ironically, what is what is a tautology is not a tautology, but rather a demonstration of what a tautology is.

IronTom: did they lock the Republicans out again?

they've been yammering all day long. and they all voted for that amendment that just got passed. now they're voting on Boehner's amendment. so no they aren't getting shut out. Unless you think just them losing the big vote is getting shut out.

Less than $500 for an abortion vs. more than $1 million for care/housing for each unwanted child

How does that make sense?

The Abortion Amendment is irrelevant. Pretty sure laws already exist preventing Federal funding for providers of abortion.

/Could be wrong.

Democrats pretty much had to bring the abortion amendment up for a vote if they wanted the overall bill to pass.
