Jesus told me not to get printed after I held up that liquor store too.

Molten sulfur and all that.

Wait -- is the mark the ink? Which they let you wash off immediately, and which you don't have to show on your fingers to buy stuff? Or is the mark your fingerprints themselves? Y'see, I read the Bible quote, and I'm pretty sure that a Bible "literalist" couldn't in a million years find anything saying "You aren't allowed to get fingerprinted" there.

So I'm sticking with my first thought, which is "kiddy diddler living under an assumed name and afraid that her prints will identify her real identity".

Or "mouthbreathing fundy godbotherer attention whore". That one works too.

What's the problem here? She doesn't exatly sound like the kind of person I'd want teaching in a school anyway. Let her go un-finger printed. Let her go all together.

bingethinker [TotalFark] 2009-11-07 10:43:02 PM
Even for a high school teacher, she's pretty disconnected from reality.

gothelder 2009-11-07 10:43:31 PM
Logical solution" To have her fingerprinted then given a knife so she can cut off the offending digit. There is no law that says you have to maintain the health of the contaminated digit.

Wouldn't help She'd sue about that, too. When an attention whore wants it, they WILL get their $2 on the dresser.

They didn't do a background check on her 20 years ago when she started teaching? Why wasn't this settled then?

clusterfrak 2009-11-07 10:45:51 PM
Well if the Mark of the beast is her fingerprints than God gave those to her. Suprise your god doomed you damnation in the womb.

There's state criminal checks and then there's the FBI fingerprint checks. At least in PA the state criminal checks have been required for awhile but it's only within the last few years that you've had to get fingerprinted.

Back then, they might not have done them. Or maybe they just now are doing the fingerprint-type background checks. Some cheap-ass places just do name checks, which are much less reliable.

This is somewhat of a valid point. I don't know of many jobs that require you to be fingerprinted in order for you to get a job. Let alone a low waged teaching position.

But as some republicans say, if you have nothing to hide, then what's the big deal?

For me, it's just a nuisance. It gets expensive to have the fingerprint check, the background check, and the child abuse check done every year. I understand the purpose, it's just annoying.

Well, many things - but coded books of resistance to roman tyranny are not among them.

According to her attorney, Scott Skelton, of Lufkin, Pam McLaurin believes the book of Revelation literally and that getting a fingerprint would bear her the mark of the beast and she would be "be tormented in burning sulfur."

No finger painting for those kids, I guess.

lettuce99 2009-11-07 10:49:55 PM
Fingerprinting is the mark of the beast? What's a retina scan? The laser scan data rendered into digital format by the beast? DNA scan -- the mark of the really really really really really really small beast?

ferfer72 2009-11-07 10:50:21 PM

Actually, if they are going to have a background check done, and my record was clean, I would prefer a fingerprint check. I knew a lady who was turned down on the basis of a name check, because somebody who wrote rubber check gave her common, Anglo-Saxon name as an alias. When she went down to the state police and gave her fingerprints, the employer could see she was not that person, and she was hired.

The whack jobs in my state feel the same way concerning drivers licenses. Don't need to furnish a print to establish identification... And naturally my drivers license first 3 digits are triple 6.

1) Getting fingerprinted leaves no lasting mark on the fingers. I have been fingerprinted dozens of times and have removed more than 95% of the ink in 30 seconds of washing.

2) Having had your fingerprints taken does not allow you to buy or sell, so there is no way it could be the mark of the beast.

3) These days most areas are using digital fingerprinting - something like a scanner for your fingers. If she thinks exposing her fingers to light is going to give her the mark of the beast, I hope she always wears gloves. Heck, if light can give her the mark of the beast, she should probably be wearing a burqa.

In that case she needs to denounce her Social Security number, as that fits the scripture more than a fingerprint does. People can buy and sell in this kingdom without fingerprinting, but you ain't getting far without a SSN

Oh man, when I had mine done this summer it took me forever to roll my finger *just right* so that the digital scanner would accept it. It took me something like fifteen minutes to do all my fingers and I stood there feeling like a total dumbass.

They use a scanner now - no ink anymore.

And then there is this:
His sons brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger into the blood and put it on the horns of the altar; the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.
Leviticus 9:9

Do they even use ink anymore? Last time I got mine done for some super secret CIA job in the White House with the Pope they used an optical scan. The licensing bureau got them much quicker too.

I've had several jobs that require it, including every bank I ever worked at. And we have several clients at my current employer who require it for everything, including $10/hr customer service jobs. It's not all that uncommon.
