Next you'll be telling me that all Bowls, college football, sports in general are for money and TV ratings

There are few things pure in the world any more, and sports sure as shiat isn't one of them.

/but home is one of the few!

Well, they're trying to lose to Navy, so that would help.

The BCS only crowns a different kind of mythical national champion compared to the previous non-system. The Rose Bowl should invite whoever they want.

If Navy doesn't take care of ND, Pitt will next week.

As of half time, Navy is doing their best to prevent this pain from being inflicted upon us all.

/similar to the pain weis inflicts upon a chinese buffet

Almost too bad, because I'd love to see at least one undefeated team get knocked out by two loss teams like USC and Notre Dame just to further expose the BCS for the farce that it is.

TheManofPA 2009-11-07 05:00:15 PM
I always wondered what would happen in college hoops if ND got this treatment. Ex: "We know that Carolina only has one loss and ND went 25-7, but we are going to give ND the top seed anyhow"

/Go Navy
//Go Pitt

Not all ND fans are d-bags. These guys, for example, are pretty funny: www.housethatrockbuilt.com. Their puppet Charlie Weis is especially entertaining.

However, most of them are. So fark em. Also, we need to stop tuning in just to watch them fail. I know I enjoy it myself, but it's only encouraging this nonsense.

Navy's keeping up the good work of protecting us from the touchdown mullahs: 21-7 late in Q3.

Well, their QB just got killed on the field, I don't know what that does to their chances...

if me mum had wheels she would be a bicycle
if nasa hadnt faked the moon landing we would be on mars already
if ND wins out they would get a bcs bid
if abraham lincoln were a ghost in the white house, he would haunt baracks underpants

/as long as we are talking crazy

puffy999 [TotalFark] 2009-11-07 05:56:30 PM
I would like to say that this would be as bad a year, if not worse, than the 2000 season where ND weaseled their way into a BCS bowl. I mean, that year, Virginia Tech was hosed. This year, ND probably doesn't deserve a top 25 ranking given their "resume."

RminusQ [TotalFark] 2009-11-07 06:01:08 PM
Good thing they're losing, as with Iowa backing out (opening the door for PSU or OSU to win the Televen) and Oregon choking (leaving a tiny chance for USC to win the Pac-10), that's two more berths that would be open for Notre Dame to take.

But instead it looks like they will lose this one, then to Pitt next week, and we can all stop pretending they're a legitimate top-25 team.

Broktun 2009-11-07 06:03:16 PM

Well, the safety there all but seals it.

So, does a team that gets shut down by a Navy team so one dimensional on offense that they attempted three passes all game deserve a BCS bid?

Oh, and now that ND has officially lost and, without question, should drop out of the top 25: f*ck anyone, for ANY BCS bowl or otherwise, who would have put ND in a BCS bowl.

TheOther [TotalFark] 2009-11-07 06:11:50 PM
ND lost, so the Rose Bowl is safe for overrated Big 10 and Pac 10 teams.

RaptorLC 2009-11-07 06:14:04 PM
Awesome deal. Even if it was a sister service that did it (and a sister service who beat Air Force yet again this year), it's always fun to watch ND lose.

Even better is the fact that I picked Navy to cover the spread in my shop's pick'em pool . Now... let's go Wake Forest, and not lose by 16 or more.

Peter von Nostrand:

TCU is in the BCS for sure as long as they win out, though no hope of the title game. But I'd love to see USC and Notre Dame get in to the BCS over some obviously superior non big six teams. Solely because I want to see the BCS crash and burn as soon as possible and replaced with the 16 team playoff that every single other level of college football uses.

Fark Notre Dame up their pompus self-important arses. I'm an Army fan and I support this message.

GO ARMY, SINK NAVY!

/serious question, actually

NAVY for the ROSE Bowl! since they beat ND who beat Purdue who beat Ohio State who should have could have would have lost to NAVY in week 1.

Oh yeah..well
maybe Boise State might go to the ROSE Bowl..
since Oregon is choking 38-28 to Stanfraud at the moment..

hell just send Purdue..
they are almost the best team in the "almost" division

cant one dream..
as we are doomed to see a bad OSU 9-2 team meeta 9-2 USC team..

Dictionary Definition of Notre Dame:

University whose name is more important than the actions of its players whether or not playing in a game.

The name may cause over-excitement in the fans, opponents or even the team itself, but the team is just a name, and the university will use that to make $$$.

/I'm jealous of Notre Dame's marketing team.

Honestly, you wonder how long the delusion will continue. They're a cold-weather, Catholic university with high academic standards, not affiliated with a major conference. You could hire COBRA to create the perfect football coach from the DNA of past great coaches and he's not going to get you back to what ND used to be in this day and age.

Here's the Army and the Navy
And the battles they've won
Here's to America's colors
The colors that never run
May the wings of liberty never lose a feather.

/No offense to Army, just celebrating the victory

Ohio State would have crushed Notre Dame to pieces in the Rose Bowl and it would not have been a big game.

I'm actually looking foward to a rematch against USC in the Rose Bowl.
