I doubt it-- by then he might be just a DH-type (if he isn't already), and the Yankees won't want to tie up that spot with the contracts they have in place now.

IMO, winning the WS MVP actually hurt his chances of returning to the Yankees. My thinking was the Yankees would offer him something, but somewhat lowball him so that if he stayed for the love of the team or whatever, he'd be taking a bit of a paycut. Thing now is you can't really lowball the WS MVP, and despite his DH-only status, I can't see the Yankees offering the kind of money his numbers would demand.

Then again, I could be wrong and they could surprise me

Were the Dodgers obligating to make good on his option after the suspension? I would think after that and a less-than-inspiring season (not to mention the Manny attitude), they would say screw it and spend 20 million elsewhere.

Where else will he go though? He is a full time DH. Not many teams are exactly leaping at the chance to get a guy who can't play the field, even on occasion.
