I said "Look man, a-what time is it?"
He said "The clock on the wall say three o'clock
Last call for alcohol, so what you need?"

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer .....

Too much build up. Not enough punchline.

doglover: Too much build up. Not enough punchline.

My wife says the same thing. Except without the buildup part.

Wine, ho! Clink, clink!
--The goblets chime.
Wine, ho! Drink, drink!
So we conquer time.
Time lies drunk among the reeds,
Sleeping off his evil deeds.

- 'The Quest of Merlin' by Richard Hovey (1891)

Heh at 2:15 I let everyone know they have 15 more minutes. Then I start playing "Batdance" by Prince on the jukebox. Normally they leave by 2:20.

I worked in a bar when I was younger and I forgot to do "Last Call" one night. People were actually pretty cranky about it. A lot...

"Yeah we're drinking and we're dancing
but there's nothing really happening
and the place is dead as Heaven on a Saturday night
And my very close companion
gets me fumbling gets me laughing
she's a hundred but she's wearing
something tight"

When I was studying abroad in college (aka getting drunk in France with other Americans), I used to go to this bar called Medieval. It looked like an old dungeon and a lot of the crowd were punk or goth types. At closing time, the bar would always play Sinatra's New York, New York. Emptied the place of Frenchie punks but us tarded murricans would sing the whole song until they hustled us out the door. Cool story, mon frere.

/worked wednesday and some farker played that song twice after the game

When I wanted to get folks out of the bar I'd put classical music on the stereo. They biatched, they moaned, they went home. And so did I.

South Carolina is more like it. So why the Florida tag?

You expect people to read articles before they submit them? That's like reading an article before commenting.

I prefer the original JLH version, but my 15 year old daughter plays the GTD version you quote.

itsaback: JLH

old school (new window)

New School (new window)

Both are awesome.

Pud:

Yes! Took my daughter to see GT (&D) a couple months ago. If only GT knew when he dubbed her "the Future of Rock and Roll" by placing his guitar on her head, and announcing the same... She is the biggest Bo Diddley fan you can find, and loves playing the blues. I must say that GT's version of Let Me Pass is awesome.
I grew up in the Chicago area and regret never getting to see JLH. He was amazing. His foot tapping was a bass line and drums.
I Always love watching this video (new window)
