If you become rich enough you influence the law to protect your industry.

Wow, that's pretty much horrible. Could you imagine the conversation when the kid's were old enough to know?

"Ok Esteban, we're not your real parents. No, you're not adopted. We stole you."

MERLIN. ...Look, mother, there's my uncle.

JOAN. How doest thou know him, son? thou never saw'st him.

MERLIN. Yet I know him, and know the pains he has taken for ye, to finde out my father.--Give me your hand, good uncle.

CLOWN. Ha, ha, I'de laugh at that, yfaith. Do you know me, sir?

Is there a shortage of Mexican babies? People are paying money for them? Really? I think I know how we can solve our national debt problem...

Then there is the case of the 14 orphans missing from various orphanages in Mexico City. Authorities have arrested administrators but have not been able to locate a single one of the orphans. The assumption is that they were sold and shipped out of the country.

at just over $1000 per mexican baby this won't really put a dent in the national debt. Unless we mass produce them in factories.

But did you see how much they are paying for them? There are dogs that go for a higher price.

And this is why I hate Mexico City with a fiery passion.

As a mexican, can I ask the US to nuke this city from orbit? Then we'll all just piss in the smoldering ruins, and salt the earth so nothing grows back.

Remember folks, the mexican gestation period is 9 days, not 9 months. They can also store sperm for use at a later time. This is not a very serious crime, the mother will be rewarded with the doctors usuall take and maybe some bonus.

Anyone else really confused by the whole 'Babies sell for big bucks' and 'Adoptive parents wait years for a baby' but 'Thousands of unwanted children grow up in shiat-hole foster homes' thing? It always get me scratching my head when I hear stuff like this.

DangerousDave 2009-11-07 01:29:05 PM
Years ago, I was in Juarez (mostly to buy cheap booze) and some woman with something like 6 rugrats and curtain climbers hanging on or around her held out her hand. My response was something "WHT?". She says "money for my baby". I didn't know if she wanted a handout or to sell me the baby so I got the hell out of there.

Ah, I see you've never heard of special interest lobby groups. Let me introduce you to the term. Some of the millions of dollars the companies pass on to consumers with higher cost goes to pay special interest lobby groups to, well, lobby government officials to, what, now? Oh that's right. Protect their interests.

You call them thieves? It's not thieving if they change the laws to make it legal, is it? And yet it's not...quite...right.

I grew up in D.F. I remember going out to eat tamales with my country bumpkin cousins and they would warn me that the tamales were filled with baby meat. Maybe that's what happening to the babies. I still ate the tamales.

Back in the 1990s I saw a Canadian movie on Australian TV called Butterbox Babies, which was true story about something very similar.

The scene where a young married couple had to stop at the home when she was about to give birth made me very angry- The baby was born and taken to the nursery. Meanwhile, an older couple returned to the home, upset that the child they had adopted from the home a few years ago had died. They wanted another baby, but the home had none just then.

This couple claimed influence and that they could shut the home down if they wanted. Under pressure, the staff told the young couple that their baby had died. In fact, they sold the baby to the older couple!

Here is the real story:

and here is the movie:
