I'd rather have Vince Young on my roster than Matt Cassell. Vince may not have the stats, but he knows how to win. Matt would make a great backup QB, but he isn't starter material.
Are these the same mouthguards which the MNF guys were jizzing their jeans over the other night? "Gives you more POWER, better RANGE OF MOTION, makes you last longer IN BED...!"

Yeah, that was very dumb. They spent about 10 minutes discussing those damn mouthguards.
markyp09:Treygreen13: So he's the opposite of Ben Roethlisberger. He is willing to take a sack over throwing an interception... which is preferable.
No. He's just contractually obligated to pump-fake 12 times before he is allowed to throw. Sometimes there's just not enough time.

Interestingly enough, Big Ben has more ints than does Cassel.
Which is surprising when you consider that: 1. Pittsburgh is a decent team 2. KC RARELY has a lead in a game (and so Cassel NEEDS to throw more than Big Ben) 3. LJ could trip over the line of scrimmage and have the same rushing average as he does while "trying" (so teams know that the Chiefs will be passing)

Of course, Big Ben also has 4 more wins this season.

I wish he'd teach Cassel how to pump fake. Then he wouldn't have to constantly throw to covered receivers.
Of course, Cassel barely has time to take the snap, much less pump fake.

I don't think any of the Chiefs receivers would know what to do if the QB pump-faked.
Roethlisberger's receivers (and the guys who are covering them) know there are at least 2 pump fakes coming, but sometimes Roethlisberger will make it an even dozen, and sometimes he stops at 6. Some of the routes Ben's receivers run look like they are buffering through Real Player after all the pump fakes.

Big Ben really isn't that good but his team keeps winning so everybody thinks he is. He throws a ton of picks and takes a ton of sacks. He can do this though because he has a great defense to bail him out. When he throws picks it's usually deep so he basically did the same thing as a punt. It's ok though because the defense is going to get him the ball back anyway. If that defense ever falls apart Big Ben will be blamed for the Steelers demise even if he plays at the same level he always has.
Jason Campbell employs a similar strategy. When he sees pressure coming he drops the ball, then pretends he doesn't know where it went so nobody expects him to recover it.

At least Campbell pretends to look for it. McNabb literally points at it and orders his Center to fall on it.
I guess you're right subby, that must be why Cassel leads the league in interceptions. Oh wait, he's tied for 18th and playing behind one of the worst O-lines in the league.

He's in the thread? Oh, right, up there. I just gloss over his posts.
Roethlisberger doesn't throw that many picks...I've seen him throw a couple that are just big shots down the field with seconds left in the half or something like that. Or some sort of freak bounce.
Almost all QB's can't be blamed for at least half their picks....except Jamarcus Russel.....He does it all by himself.

Because we all know that the only quarterbacks who are as bad as Vince Young are JaMarcus Russell, Josh Johnson, David Garrard, Byron Leftwich and Seneca Wallace. These bums get to start while traditional quarterbacks like Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart and Kevin Kolb have to fight for playing time. It's a shame.

He's the 6th rated passer, 3rd in yards, 2nd in completion percent, 1st in yards per attempt, and currently in the middle of the pack at 15th in interceptions. Yep, he's not good at all.

Fuuny thing to think about...twice in this decade, K.C. has picked up the backup QB from the super-prolific offensive team from the past 2 years (Cassel from Pats, Trent Green from the Rams). At the midway point of each season, both have/had roughly the same completion rate, same number of TDs...however, Trent had a lot more INTs. It's also worth mentioning that, while Mr. Green had more picks, he also had about +800 yards at this point of his freshman year.
Frankly, I think that says a lot about the quality of our O-line -- the QBs can put up similar numbers, but one of them had enough time to go deep once in a while. Dump passes for 3-4 yards is no way to win football games, son.
Matt Cassel did two things with the Patriots that Tom Brady never did: had a game where he threw for over 400 yards and three touchdowns, and had two 400+ yard games. Also, "Became the fifth player in NFL history to throw for 400 yards in back-to-back games, joining Dan Fouts ('82), Dan Marino ('84), Phil Simms ('85) and Billy Volek (2004)." Drew Bledsoe was the other Pats QB to have two 400 plus yard games in one season. I thought Matt was the real deal.
