But did you know they were fakes set up by the companies that run the dating sites?

I remember a TFD about that. Submitter kept getting messages from hot girls whenever his account was about to expire.

I figured that out 2 years ago.

you have to be a special kind of stupid to not know this.

I think the only people who don't know this are people who use dating sites.

Adultfriendfinder would be a likely culprit. One only has to look at a few ads to realize that they're FAKE!

wyltoknow [TotalFark] 2009-11-06 08:18:50 AM
No way! So that little hottie Tina that keeps sending me messages that I can't read without paying and "winking" at me and urging me to subscribe so I can read her flirtations isn't real? God damnit, I don't believe you. Me and Tina have something special!

Who would want to spend time faking so many obese women who love cats?

Any retard knows that.

Obvious tag isn't strong enough. We need a "F*cking DUH you goddamned f*cking idiot" tag.

I think Match.com was sued for this by someone but the suit was dismissed because of lack of evidence.

I agree than many of the ads are fake, but I met a real live girl through matchmaker.com this year. Three months together and still going strong.

I was unsure how such a thing could have happened until I noticed the picture provided, which allowed me to envision just how a female human might employ a personal computer to falsify information.

Met my wife and the mother of my child on a dating site .... (eHarmony)

"Dated" 5+ other girls for varying periods of time I met on dating sites... (Match.com and plentyoffish chicks are sluts, bong!) I say 5+ because I can only specifically remember 5 that I met ... there were probably more. This was all in the 2006-2007 period though, somewhat before this all became a business of epic proportions. I will say in my experience the majority of internet girls are crazy :-)

As a side note - I have other friends who have met and are currently dating girls from dating sites and know of others who similarly met and got married.

I'm pretty sure American companies were already sued and paid out class action settlements on this issue a few years back. Oz running a little slow...as usual.

Hmmm. Buddy of mine has been dating someone he met on eHarmony two years ago. I'm engaged to someone I met on Match.com about 15 months ago.

I'd guess that AdultFriendFinder is the biggest culprit, but I've dated plenty of women from Match.com (and even a few from OKCupid).

I'm not surprised, but honestly, I didn't think about it at all. I wouldn't visit a site like "redhotpie" considering I was looking for a girl with some self-respect, and there's little distinction between a paid AW and an unpaid AW on a personals site, anyway. So, I had no idea, but it didn't matter anyway.

/now engaged to the girl I met

You ain't kidding. I used Match for about 2 years in 2002-2004.......there is A LOT of crazy out there. But I also met some cool chicks as well.......some I'm still friends with.

The only guy I ever had to fire was really hung up on this Russian woman he
had met on the Internet. He was of a frame of mind where pointing out to him
that she was likely scamming him would have probably resulted in grievous
bodily harm, so I let it slide.

Kinda sad, really.

Yeah, good old 06-07, before the 'net went mainstream and companies had serious business models.

It seems like so long ago.

Nakito 2009-11-06 08:55:23 AM
Sure, that might be true for dating sites. Such scam artists.

But this high school classmate site is different. All of those hot girls that I remember from school are desperately trying to get in touch with me again. All I need to do is upgrade to a premium account. Where's my credit card?

Adult friend finder has a very specific purpose and it sure as hell ain't for dating.

It actually works quite well if you're a paid member and know what you're looking for. There are however better sites for that sort of action though.

spidermann [TotalFark] 2009-11-06 08:56:59 AM
Met my wife here.

What? This isn't a dating site?

Well, too bad. You CAN get to really know a person from this site....they just don't know it.

Dated women from Match.com, OKCupid.com Plentyoffish.com and Dateinasia.com

all seemed real

the one from Plentyoffish.com will be flying in on the 11 so I'm happy... been with her for about two years now. And yes, I've visited her once or twice already so I know she is real. ;)
