I was just in LA last weekend and some friends told me that Arnie had approved a new stadium, something that had kept the Rams and the Raiders from staying ... so, if it happens, they're probably there to stay.

It makes sense for California to have 4 teams, Texas to have 3, and Florida to have 2. The people of San Antonio love football, it's the 8th biggest city, and they sell out Cowboys practices for Christ sake. LA obviously needs a team but they already had two and they left, so what does that say about LA?

This day has been surprisingly light on non-beisbol sport. Something about a shooting something somewhere I imagine.

I grew up when both the Raiders and the Rams were in the L.A. area, the Rams for a time literally down the street from me. Maybe it was my upbringing, but I always gave more of a rat's ass about NCAA football than NFL. I think quite a few Southlanders agree, maybe especially now, since a new generation has been raised with no pro team in the region. (One might claim the Chargers, but really?)

I think they should move to Vegas. Considering seasonality, it would make a much better pro sports choice than a baseball team (an idea which has been tossed around before). With a current population of nearly 2 million for the Las Vegas metropolitan area plus a metric assload of tourists, they would have no problem making money.

It's for the exact reason Waltzing Mathilda said, that and there were two owners who didn't give a damn about their fans or LA. We liked both teams, and watching football here in LA is great. I remember as a kid going to tailgates before a game in LA. It wasn't perfect, but nothing is.

But when you have arguably the worst duo of owners EVER in one city in Georgia Frontiere and Al Davis wouldn't you want to stop supporting them too?

Al Davis wore out his welcome with the "I want luxury boxes at the Coliseum or I'll move" mantra.

Georgia was just Georgia....need I say more about her?

LA City and county officials were not going to play the game, combined with the Coliseum commission.

Anaheim was just alienated by Georgia.

I'm pretty sure that the stadium in Los Angeles was all privately funded... and the ownership group will pay the relocation and team costs... not sure where you're getting your tax information.

jacksonville is pretty cool. i've lived here for about 5 years and i have thoroughly enjoyed it more than living in other areas of the south. there's a lot to do, you're in close proximity to some great camping and fishing, and we have more bars than you can visit in one month.

what does kinda suck about it is the redneck mentality that spills over from georgia (and yes, the rest of florida, i'm not ignorant to that), the huge distances between different areas of jax and the re-freakin-diculous driving habits of the locals.

all that said, the jaguars pretty much suck as an organization, not just a halfass football team. watching the jaguars play is about as much as trying on cardboard contact lenses.
