(The Hill) Dick Morris: Passing ObamaCare 5 days after Democrats got slaughtered "is breathtaking in its arrogance. Voters all over America will get the point: The congressional Democrats don't give a damn what the voters think."
How do two governor's races that the Republicans won, two House special elections that the Democrats won, and a referendum on gay marriage have any bearing on moving forward with health care reform?
I mean, holy shiat these were off year elections. Most of the farking country did not even know that there was an election going on this week.
Do these people put broken bits of glass in their underwear so they can maintain an angry disposition and not break out laughing when they say these things ?
I guess in Dick Morris's world, "getting slaughtered" means gaining two seats in the House. By that standard, 2008 must have been a Democratic massacre.
Of course, in Dick Morris's world, Dick Morris isn't a complete waste of toilet paper.
/yes, I know the Republicans gained to governorships //no, I don't think either of these facts reflect on public opinion of Obama ///but if you insist they do, Congressional representatives would be the better measure
I'm pretty sure that subby and I differ on the meaning of the word "slaughter." New Jersey votes out a corrupt and unpopular governor while Virgina chooses not to elect an inept candidate who ran away from his base for the duration of his campaign? In the mean time, Democrats pick up a congressional seat that hasn't gone blue since the days of Lincoln, yet this means the party is collapsing, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are the true leaders of America, and we should all start kneeling at the feet of our Big-C Conservative overlords?
If Democrats do the opposite of what Dick Morris says, they'll be just fine. Though I will say the Republicans did a great job spinning this week's elections.
They lose two House seats (one of which had been solidly Republican for over 120 years), pick up two governor's races (one to succeed a term-limited governor, one against one of the most unpopular governor in modern New Jersey history), and it's a repudiation of Obama? Puh-lease.
Imagine how well they'd do if Democrats could ever actually act in unison about anything!

The GOP has officially been renounced.
The Democratic victory is enormous.

Pfft. Everyone knows national policy is determined by governors. The influence of Congress is marginal at best.

Or Governor Mark "No Stimulu- Wait, Legislature Said WHAT?!?!" Sanford.
Or Tim "I Used to be a Schleppy Flake, but Now I'm Mr. Peppy Flake" Pawlenty.
Or Piyush "I Don't Like The Stimulu- Here's a Big Check From Uncle Bob!!" Jindal.
As opposed to the two new Democratic members of the 111th Congress, who will actually be VOTING on the bill.
