That's rough. All the best to her.

I think that it is not really a tumor... not an uncontrolled, undirected little bubbling pot of flesh... but that it is in fact a new organ... a new part of the brain.

/All hail the new flesh.

not sure I trust the journalistic integrity of the enquirer. They said on my local radio station this morning that this was false.

The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the online arena: Fark.com. The computer screen is the retina of the mind's eye. Therefore, the computer screen is part of the physical structure of the brain. Therefore, whatever appears on the computer screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it. Therefore, the Internet is reality, and reality is less than the Internet.

You know, thinking about it, you *COULD* remake Videodrome, updated to the modern world of the Internet. Have Max be the owner of a porn site, Nicki could be a blogger. I could see it. Hell, I *WOULD* see it.

The though fills me with the urge to defecate.

"Scanners" I could stomach (as it's by far the worst of D.C.'s "written/directed by" films and could only go up in terms of the quality of the lead performance [no, not Ironside {who's great as always}].

the same was said on Access Hollywood or one of those shows last night - my wife was watching and that is the only thing that caused me to pay some attention - everything else was about the John and Kate guy and Levi Johnson...not really my bag man

How did I not realize that Subby's link was the national enquirer?

/On the other hand, while they dramatize stuff, they're usually right.
//Swayze and Newman's cancer were both vehemently denied at first. Hell, the latter's was denied until he dropped dead.

Is there a Garry Marshall Curse all of a sudden? First Mork needed heart surgery, now Laverne has a tumor. What's next, Fonzie has syphilis?

Oh, come on. It's not like it's high art that can't be improved. Granted, it is a *GOOD* movie, but it is not perfect, and it is showing its age a bit.

Some movies just shouldn't be remade. The 1950's Moby Dick, or The Godfather, for two examples. I don't think Videodrome is one of them.

I agree with you that it's imperfect (I do think that the film would have benefited from one or two more script draft polishes).

I agree to disagree with you that anybody in this day and age could improve upon it (hell, Cronenberg himself more-or-less made an effort to (with little success) with ExistenZ (his second-worst original screenplay/directorial bid [I did quite like Howard Shore's score for that project, though, so it wasn't a total wash]).

That's sad. Sounds like she's a goner.

My favorite story about her is when she and Carrie Fisher dropped acid and went to Disneyland, they were in their forties at the time.

catzies 2009-11-05 07:05:53 PM
I met her at a Lakers game, back when I had the money to buy floor seats. The security guy in my section was real cool & knew I wasn't a problem & let me go and talk to celebs on the court.

While I was talking to Penny, Brendan Fraser came up & showed her an ultrasound of his baby-on-the-way, and Jeffrey Katzenberg put his arm around me from behind--thought I was someone else.

Michael McKean (Lenny/Spinal Tap) on his Twitter, as I stated above, said it was a rumor, and I assume he should be familiar with the situation. Fairly certain it is him, and not an imposter... got his Twitter name via following the TVShowsOnDVD Twitter account, which was linked on their site... they listed him, and Danny DeVito on one of their "Follow Fridays".
