(YouTube) Cool
Turn your back on Peter Gabriel for more than a decade and he comes out with something wonderful like this cover of 'Book of Love'

That song has been out for five years already. It was on the sound track of a Richard Gere movie, "Shall we dance?"

You must mean that you personally turned your back on Gabriel. Have you heard that he used to front an English prog rock band that went on to great success, fame and fortune after he left?

I listened to it but fell asleep so didn't watch the video.

Does he sing upside down on a bicycle inside a Moebius loop? Because that's really deep, when he does stuff like that to demonstrate gravity and stuff, man.

Is it just me, or does his voice sound like hell these days?

Not only did Gabriel record this about 5 years ago, it already gained somewhat popularity by being played during the montage at the end of the last season of Scrubs. Absolutely beautiful song, never knew it was a cover. I'll check out the original now.

I was hoping it was some really warped version of the 50's song. Damn.

Heck, I would have settled for a NON-warped version of the 50s song.

This one? Meh.

But day-um, Pete gets a pass every time for having written
'In Your Eyes'.

Saw him once, back in the early 90s on the WOMAD tour. The song was 10 minutes of musical bliss, with 25,000 people singing along with him and Seanead O'Connor.

Less schlock and more rock, please, Peter. Something composed with a back-beat, not a conductor's baton.

Zzzzz....

Feh. There's more than enough manufactured music out there - give me composed music any day.

Said it before...will say it again...His Secret World Live Tour in 93 was the best concert I've ever seen...tied with Pink Floyd in 95.

He is a great performer.

/I celebrate his entire collection

Just to clarify, I'm a big PG fan but waiting 7 years for a new album is sorely disappointing - especially when it's a collection of sleepy, orchestral covers. His last album was truly brilliant and I've been hoping for another one like that for WAY too long now.

Would've been better if it was The Monotones song Book Of Love. I can totally hear Peter Gabriel singing "I wonder, wonder, wonder who, who wrote the book of love".

The live version of Red Rain on Secret World Live is one of my personal favorites when it comes to giving my subwoofers a workout.

As much as I like Peter Gabriel, my vote still goes to the original Magnetic Fields version being superior.
