Worst conflict ever. Reading both articles, the impression is that things are better, but still not good.

There will be few deals with Xmas buying season. Retailer do not want a repeat of last year; they'll be maintaining low inventories, and cutting store personnel.

Not sure that the lower volume, higher margin strategy is going to work out for them, tho.

Customers disappointed with paying 3 times the amount for 1/2 the chocolate candy.

Frickken' "FUN SIZED" chocolate is almost the same size as a Hershey's Kiss.
Not a bad size for a Whitman's Sampler box, box utter crap for Halloween Candy.

Customers disappointed with lousy Adult Male Halloween Costume selections this year too.
The "Sexy Whatever" Adult Female Halloween Costumes were good enough, but if you wanted variety you needed to tweak the wardrobe a bit.
