Or take Path from Newark Union Station to the World Trade Center.

Are you sure the A Train'll get you there efficiently? I mean- well, I suppose, stops right by then coming from Penn, doesn't it?

You take the A Train if you want the quickest way to Harlem, I thought everybody knew that.

All 6 of those trains stop at Penn - A, C and E on 8th Ave, 1, 2 and 3 on 7th Ave. All will get you to lower Manhattan where the parade will be -

A or C to Chambers Street or B'way/Nassau (exit toward the rear if you choose the latter)

E to World Trade Center

1 to Chambers Street

2 or 3 to Chambers Street, Park Place (closest) or Fulton Street.

That's how to get there without transfers. Note that the A, 2 and 3 run express (you'll get there quicker).

/or you can spend $80 on a cab

Better teams don't always win, Jimmy.

Quit putting baseball in the news. I don't want to hear about it anymore since pitchers and catchers report next week or some such.

The Phillies offense is better than the Yankees offense. It's the pitching that was the difference.

But the Phils pitching isn't nearly as bad as their performance during the World Series would lead you to believe.

First of all, their bullpen (minus Lidge) was one of the best in the league this year.

Pedro was excellent during the regular season, NLDS, and NLCS.

Hamels, the reigning WS MVP, had an off-year.

And farkin Charlie Manuel decided to throw his best starting pitcher (on paper) into the bullpen for the post season.

If the rotation went Lee -> Happ -> Pedro -> Blanton, we would have seen a different series.

If the Phillies took the All-Star game more seriously, maybe they wouldn't have lost.

Good Series Philly. They never looked beaten until Cano tossed the last out to Texiera. scary lineup...I'm glad they went a little cold when they did.

Same time next year? Book it. Done. See you in October!

I'm sorry, you must have missed Johnny Damon's incredibly intelligent play to help the Yankees win the 4th game. Not only did he put himself in scoring position by stealing two bases on a single play, but the move forced Brad Lidge to abandon the slider against A-Rod who promptly drove in the winning run.

The better team makes plays like that. Fool.

Happ is by no means their best SP. That would be Cliff Lee, far and away. Manuel probably should have put Happ in instead of Blanton, but there's no reason to take Hamels out. You would have to hope that he would be at least half as good as he was in last year's postseason. You don't take an ace out of your rotation in the world series. Pedro was brought to the team pretty much specifically for the postseason. The only person Happ could have been switched for is Blanton.

Even given that rotation, you still have to deal with what the Yankees brought. CC was very good. Burnett was never off. Petitte was very good. Their bullpen was good (except for game 1). Everyone who was supposed to suck ended up coming through at some point (ARod, Swisher, Matsui).

If you want to walk away with something positive, Phillies fans: Cliff Lee is the best pitcher on the planet today. This was proven in this postseason.

The Yankees were the better team and deserved the win. The Phils pitching couldn't get it done (who thought it would be a good idea to put in Pedro against the Yanks in NY?) and the hitters couldn't perform with men on base.

To be fair, it worked fine the first time, but AJ was just a little bit better. (And the Phils, for some odd reason, refused to adjust to the first-pitch strike that game.) The second time, though, was pushing it. Stick Happ in there, which the Yankees had barely seen except for a few batters, and it might have been a different story.

Joe_diGriz [TotalFark] 2009-11-05 10:29:48 AM
BTW, Jimmy? While you did do better in the WS than you did all year, I think it's time for Victorino to be leadoff hitter. He at least doesn't assume he can hit a home run every time he's at the plate.

skykid: Calling Rollins baseball's answer to Patrick Ewing is an insult to Patrick Ewing.

Heh. I meant it only in the sense that Ewing would routinely guarantee a victory in a playoff series against Jordan's Bulls or Miller's Pacers, and then after the Knicks of course lost, would say that the Knicks were still the better team.

1, 2, 3 is definitely your best bet to get to City Hall, and the parade.

Remember, 2 and 3 are express, 1 is local.

If you take the 1, stop off at the 18th street station, go upstairs and have a few beers at McManus...Tell them you know Milton...they won't give you anything, but it's just cool to tell them you know me. It makes me feels special.

Pain in the ass for the grounds crew, what with all that Ewingesque sweating he'd be doing. They'd have to double their Diamond-Dry order for the season, because you can't just play out there with a tarp on the field all the time.

Yeah Happ is the better choice for that game. If he plays well he can pitch 8-9 innings if Pedro plays well he can pitch 7. When they don't have a solid pitcher for game 7 you need that bullpen. But meh, their's always next year and there was last year so no complaints from me here.

I can get from South Street to Wynnewood in under a half hour in the mornings (before 5am, running though occasional red lights), and usually takes me about 45 min back pre-strike. However when 676 becomes a parking lot, it all spills out onto the city streets as far north as Girard. I'm convinced that the cops directing traffic are only making things worse.

Incredible Edible Tomatoman 2009-11-05 11:15:54 AM
It was a good series, the Phillies and Yankees each played well, but the Yanks just played a bit better. Other then Lee, the Phillies pitching was less than stellar.

That said, now I can worry about the things that really matter. Like Football. And maybe Hockey.
