there's something bizarrely sexual about this. only a matter of time until someone cuts a hole in the seat and attaches a dildo

Meh, just swiveling around in a circle like that wouldn't be worth the cost of the damn machine. If a woman sat on it, she'd just move with the whole setup and nothing would really be accomplished.

Ya know, I would usually think this was some fake infomercial made for the internet, but after seeing a TV commercial for the Shake Weight (new window) I suppose anything in the name of exercise is possible.

mason4300 2009-11-04 06:45:28 PM
lol sometimes I make a similar motion (although not quite as drastically) when I've been sitting for a long time, feels great when your back is sore. This chair is stupid though.

My favorite part of the commercial is the beginning, where they say fashion is all about the shoulders and forearms.

I like how they included balancing books as an activity you could do while sitting on that thing.

I demand proof!

Those two clips had me in tears, there's something intrinsically hilarious about watching people try to stay straight while having your ass massaged in circles.

I thought people figured out in the '50's that it's not exercising anything if the machine is doing the work?

Oh, right. The fact of overcoming difficulty. I forgot people don't believe in such nonsense on the path to magical happiness.

Hector Remarkable 2009-11-04 08:34:41 PM
I've never been to Hawaii, so I should try this.

mekki 2009-11-04 08:35:17 PM
Yeah, not hot. You look like you are in a real need for a pee sitting in those chairs. I take that back. Knowing Fark, this could actually be sexy for some.

To be fair, there are a couple of ab machines that add resistance to an abominal workout and/or remove some of the strain that can go along with working abs by improving isolation. The rollers tend to be useful (and even if a machine cranks down the resistance to even 50% of a crunch, that can be a good place to start for a fatty).

Then you have biking/rollerskating instead of running and things like that.

The worst part about getting fired would be having to haul your Hawaii chair down to the parking lot. That motor can't be light.

I've actually tried one of these things. I can sort of see what they mean by "feel it working". You do have to exert energy when it shakes, but the idea of working while using it is hilarious. You could listen to music or maybe watch TV, but that's about it.

Also in the contest for stupid exercise machines, may I nominate this?

That was a sight gag on MST3K in like the late 80s. I can't believe that guy claims to have "invented" it... it was invented a long time, ago, AS A JOKE.

In that episode, TV's Frank invented the treadmill with wheels, the stair-stepping machine that actually took you to another floor ("Frank, you've just invented the stairs.") and he was working on a rowing machine you could actually use while on the lake.

I had a Hawaii Chair.

I bought a coffee at McDonalds.

Now I have two personal injury lawsuits going.

Is the Hawaii chair claiming to help you lose weight?

I still think the shake weight is the worst.

I would say put two of them next to each other at different rpms, but the guy would end up with his johnson tied in a square knot.

"matter of time"? I'd bet it's already done and on the web somewhere.

I love the Shake Weight. *That's* something in need of a dildo attachment, not that stupid hula chair.

Not that I'd say "no" to either.
