(Showbiz Spy) Joss Stone blasts Lily Allen: "Who said that musicians have to be millionaires? Who made this a rule? We don't need that much money. We just don't. We only need enough to make music and to eat and to go on tour"
actually she's making a point that while some people aim to be STARS because they are narcissistic nincompoops, other people aim to be ARTISTS and would create art even if it didn't bring them a cent.
I would be the happiest person on earth to just tour, make music and survive off it. i don't need to be rich, just want to have fun rocking out and being able to support myself, is that too much to ask?
i have no idea who joss stone is, but good for her!
sonofabob:I know, but it's a White Stripes song. Joss Stone did not make it a hit.
She had a cover of it out at the same time that it was still charting with the White Stripes. Her whole career has been a joke that was dreamed up by a marketer somewhere.
the_vegetarian_cannibal:sonofabob: kiteless: sonofabob: FTA: The Fell in Love With a Boy hitmaker believes Lily is just a media personality - not a musician.
I'm confused, I thought this was about Joss Stone.
It's about Joss Stone and her opinion of Lily Allen and being a "rock star". You are thinking too much. Just let it be.

No it's not. The White Stripes' version is called Fell in Love with a Girl.

I'd consider only changing 'girl' to 'boy' throughout the lyrics to still be a cover. Lyrics sites are your friend. Link1 (new window) and Link2 (new window)
nicoffeine:Yeah, I'm sure she never bought anything she didn't need.
It's only been in the last 100 years that musicians could depend on replicatable media for another income stream. Just like all innovations, this one will run it's course and musicians will once again have to rely on performing, not how many copies they can schlep. Maybe she has bought some things she hasn't needed, but the reality is that less and less musicians will be able to enjoy that luxury with such reckless abandon.
