You linked at the end of the slideshow, failmitter.

But anyway, list blows as usual. Its just arbitrary selections. And IMO, SNATCH had an OUTSTANDING sdtk, and it wasnt on the list.

Really wasn't that bad at all. A couple of my faves are on there. But I don't see how South Park even remotely qualifies over, say, High Fidelity.

packrabid04 [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:13:56 AM
3 that should have made the list:

The Commitments
Pump Up the Volume
Return of the Living Dead

(at least Repo Man made it)

Sgt Otter [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:24:10 AM
List is missing "24 Hour Party People."

I don't recall the "Judgment Night" soundtrack being very good. A lot of the rap/rock collaborations didn't turn out that well.

"The Saint" soundtrack was a good sample of early 90s electronica.

If "Spinal Tap" is on the list, then so should "Fear of a Black Hat."

AnthraxRipple [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:35:39 AM
Rushmore is #2, I'm happy.

List fails to include Boogie Nights or Dazed and Confused.

BEER_ME_in_CT [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:39:58 AM
Judgement night, Check
Repo Man, Check
Reservoir Dogs, Check
Singles, Check

Needs more Pump Up The Volume and Dazed & Confused

/pretty decent list

packrabid04 [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:43:29 AM
Empire Records had a pretty decent soundtrack also.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:44:47 AM
Dumb list. It's like it goes out of its way to not include orchestral soundtracks.

peederpants [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:46:21 AM
Glory Daze

Sgt Otter [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 10:47:28 AM
"The Crow" had a good soundtrack, too. Nice sampling of goth and industrial.

brigid_fitch [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 12:16:44 PM
I would have added Pulp Fiction & Amadeus

swahnhennessy 2009-11-04 12:48:56 PM
DamnYankees: Dumb list. It's like it goes out of its way to not include orchestral soundtracks.

That's because those are scores, and deserve their own category.

Magnir 2009-11-04 12:49:45 PM
This list is Failbait as it does not contain Last of the Mohicans, Excalibur, or Legends of the Fall.

That is all

Franklin Delano Bluth 2009-11-04 12:50:25 PM
It had south park and O'Brother which made me very happy.

For some reason, linky isn't working for me, but 24 Hour Party Party People", "Dazed and Confused", "Trainspotting" and "Kids" all had great soundtracks.

/Trainspotting is one of my fave movies, fave books, and fave soundtracks so they get extra points from me

Pan's Labyrinth deserves to be on any such list, forever.

Also, There Will Be Blood. The glorious, weird, weird music of There Will Be Blood. Ravenous also falls into this category.

/no "Dance Magic Dance" plz.

swahnhennessy 2009-11-04 12:54:25 PM
I'm not sure it's fair to such a list to include movies that were more or less musicals, or had the music as their main focus. I think Footloose walks a grey line there, but Hedwig and the Angry Inch is too much.

Also, it is criminally negligent that nothing by Micheal Mann is on the list.

schattenteufel [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 12:55:40 PM
FAIL for not including this:

images3.wikia.nocookie.net

...greatest soundtrack EVER!

also...

3.bp.blogspot.com

(because Queen made the best soundtracks, period)

Hello Teenage America 2009-11-04 12:56:18 PM
I would offer support for "Naked Lunch", and the "Children of Men" soundtrack has a strong variety.

Two soundtrack discs I enjoy quite a bit are from "Kingpin" and "Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead". Also, if anyone likes the "O Brother..." soundtrack, check out the dvd "Down From the Mountain" - all the songs perfomed live on stage.

Juno doesn't belong anywhere near a list like this. I was very pleased to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch on there. That is a fantastic soundtrack.

swahnhennessy 2009-11-04 01:03:29 PM
I take it that was a Straight to Hell reference, luckcat?

Also, the Dead Man score is awesome.

I enjoyed that more as an extended Neil Young jam than as a movie.

Even though the movie sucked. I like the soundtrack for Sahara. I also think the soundtrack for Adventureland is pretty decent.

Dammit, it actually wasn't. It was supposed to be this:

farm4.static.flickr.com

I also agree with Dead Man. Actually most Jarmusch films have great soundtracks.

I actually liked the movie, but Ill admit Ive been a bit of a Jim Jarmusch nut since I watched Mystery Train.

There is a huge difference between a soundtrack and a song collection.

EW needs to learn it. So do most of you guys.

...the sountrack from the jane st. playhouse cast was much better than the movie soundtrack...i would recommend it if you can find it...

Clerks; Less than Zero.

swahnhennessy: That's because those are scores, and deserve their own category.

The Fountain; Fight Club; Last of the Mohicans.

Fail.

Sorry guys, my fault. I forget to check to see if I went back to the start of the list. Oh well, at least I finally got a Greenlight.

/best week in a while.

Magorn 2009-11-04 01:10:45 PM
Tank girl is a phenomenal sountrack to an awful Movie, worth it for the Joan Jett cover of Cole Porter song alone.

Shatnerfreude 2009-11-04 01:11:08 PM
I'd swap some of those for Get Shorty, About a Boy, or Queen's Logic.
