Putting another nail in Velvet Revolver's coffin, Slash releases solo album

So this is a solo album and not another Slash's Snakepit?

/saw SS open for AC/DC back on the Stiff Upper Lip tour
//good times

I'm really hoping the whole album is nothing but slash shredding

VR could have been a good band but they went out and found the one singer with more personal problems than Axel and - this was the hard part - an even worse professional work ethic. Scott was a poison pill in that band that sooner or later would kill it, no matter how good there were.

/worked all their tours at the local show
//started out marginal, got worse

As a long time GNR fan, and not so much a fan of VR, I'd love for this album to be really good. Collaborations with Izzy Stradlin, Flea, Steven Adler, and Ozzy sound intriguing. Unfortunately, I've never seen an album with this many different musicians (particularly "all stars") on it work.

Velvet Revolver is one of the most underwhelming super groups to ever roam the earth. They are about as good as Snow Patrol

So he finished the album last April? Where's the leaked version?!

Don't get me wrong, he's a decent guitarist, but too many people hold Slash on a pedestal.

Rumoured to appear on the record are Black Eyed Peas' vocalist Fergie, Cyprus Hill - on a new version of Guns N Roses classic 'Paradise City'- Koshi Inaba from Japanese rock duo B'Z, Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Cornell, Flea, Dave Grohl and ex Guns N' Roses band-mate Steven Adler.

Sweet Jesus. Great Caeser's ghost. Oh my stars and garters. Great Odin's raven, Etc.

Only if it's the song with Izzy Stradlin. Speaking of Cornell, I was at the gym last night and that crappy Chickenfoot song was playing over the P.A. and it dawned on me. Chris Cornell stole Sammy Hagar's vocal technique. Close your eyes and listen tothis song and picture Chris Cornell singing. It's almost frightening.

NorCalLos: ...that crappy Chickenfoot song...

I dig that Chickenfoot album, but a) I like Joe Satriani and always wondered what he would sound like in a band, and b) I fully admit Sammy's lyrics are horrible.

I agree, but aren't you usually underwhelmed by supergroups? Seems more the rule than the exception.

I've only heard the one song (or maybe two), but I think you're right about Sammy's lyrics being the worst part about the band. Also, he really should consider dialing it back a bit once in a while because his nuts-in-a-vice tone is grating. I've really never been a fan of his, though I must admit I kinda like For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge for a sec. right before grunge hit.

The date is the Euro version (day/month/year) so 4.11.09 is November 4.

The more you know....

You might be on to something, but I want to see Sammy Hagar try to sing THIS.

Ya, I think Cornell is the better singer (can't say for sure because I've never heard Sammy pre-Van Halen as far as I know). Much more control and dynamics. Really, I think he's just more passionate/genuine while Sammy is a bit too detached to really be emotionally vulnerable enough to sell a lyric the way a real artist has to. I just find it very interesting that with such a similar voice and style, people see Hagar as a cockrocker and Cornell as a contemporary modern rock hero (at least back in the 90s).
