I love this show, but the last season was getting a little thin. I can see how this series would require an enormous amount of creative energy to do well, and if it can't be done well then it really should just be let go.
Tatsuma:fark. That is really bad news, the second series was even better than the first.
Stop being lazy sods, guys! Just say you'll take your time and you'll have one in two years instead.
There's only one thing I can do now to express my frustration.
I know youre a Fark hero, but I just saw your profile for the first time. You have an AWESOME taste in music...I know this because we listen to the same things.
I see Jenny Lewis, but you need to check out Jeffrey Lewis (no relation).
I know you're a legend here but I just saw your profile for the first time. You have an AWESOME taste in music. I know this because I have the same taste. The Microphones/Mount Eerie are my favorite and were the inspiration for my tattoo (Pic in Profile), but Jeffrey Lewis (no relation to Jenny) is missing. If you love The Microphones, and The Smiths and all those mopey singer-songwriters, Jeffrey Lewis will be your next favorite. Email me if you are interested in guidance to his music.
WaltzingMathilda:Meh. The standup is far superior to the scripted show. I'd rather see them put out a solid special once a year.
I do like the things that revolve around the show itself, as far as the stories being set up.
But, I will agree, when they try to bring something in that they did in standup into the show, it doesn't seem nearly as good or funny in the show as it does in the standup. A perfect example is "Business Time".
I think a lot of it is the "theatrics" in doing the show and setting up the shots, etc, detract from the act. When you just get the humor of the song itself, and how they deliver it live, it comes over as much more amusing.
Hender:rikdanger: Tatsuma: Present. What if I try to put some gel?
You look like a girl - like that that all-girl rock band, what's it called? Led Zeppelin.
Damn, I can even hear that in Murray's voice.
Which brings up issue 2: Band members dating other band members' girlfriends. I'm looking at you, Hender. You get a love triangle - you know? Fleetwood Mac situation. Well, there there was four of them, so more of a love square. But you know, no one gets on.
Why not just cut back the songs to a few episodes? The humor of the show doesn't always come from the songs, but their adventures in New York and their foibles. Sure, the songs are funny, but I never saw them as being really integral to the whole show.
Try a third season with less songs and just more situations. It could work wonderfully.

Yep I wouldn't mind fewer songs at all. The show would still be good.

True Blood is the only reason to watch HBO, Conchords suck and won't be missed. Entourage blows. The rest is just boxing specials and wore out old movies. /obvious

OH MAN! Ive seen it before, but I just realized the saxophone player is Eugene, the landlord.
He plays the steel drums in season 2 and has some talking parts, but I just realized its him!
