They were stargazing and while doing it they then drove into a pond and drowned?

I'm just wondering if I've finally become "too hammered".

Maybe they should have worked harder on getting out of the Jeep versus calling a friend for help.

Oh and stargazing is now the new word for "scoring coke."

"Coeds" is a strange and archaic term, since a gender-mixed student body is the default configuration of educational institutions in modern society. (Read that wrong for your own amusement if you want to.) It is always applied exclusively to the female students, even though the male students of such institutions are equally "coeds". Why do we continue to use this word?

Is there an opposite term for the students at gender-segregated institutions?

``At this time, foul play is not suspected,' states a press statement released by Dickinson police.

I think you can start suspecting now.

Given the location, I'd say this was about scoring some 'shrooms.

Why does coed mean female? I know coed meant having both sexes in the same class, or later in the same dorm. But now it means female, why is this?

NannyStatePark 2009-11-04 01:55:19 AM
After hearing all these stories of people drowning in their cars, I'm beginning to suspect that maybe one of these chicks saw the same Mythbusters episode and that it was actually wrong about getting out.

"Coed" refers back to newly-integrated female students at theretofore male-only institutions. "Coeducation", when the term "coed" began to spread in the late 19th century, was a somewhat novel process, and female "coeds" were the focus of that novelty.

There are a few cases (Sarah Lawrence, Vassar, etc.) wherein women-only institutions began to admit men, but those instances were generally much later and not numerous enough to affect the term's use.

On the face of things, the term doesn't make sense, but its history does. Kind of obsolete now, or should be.

"Kyrstin"? Really? That has got to be a typo.

Oh, I get it. They must have named her after Kyrgyzstan. Because the obvious answer, that it's an idiotic spelling of an otherwise common name, that would be silly!

Damn, I've been to Dickinson. Twice. First when my car broke down driving from Seattle to Chicago, then again to pick up my car after being fixed. Made the drive from Dickinson to Chicago in one shot. And that's 900 miles. If you're wondering about the route (pops)

/I know I know, cool story

It's a good thing Teddy's not still alive to be wounded by this impugnation. It might have even temporarily distracted him from incorporating this story into his frequent jokes about Chappaquiddick.

That Volkswagon thing actually works. A Mate of my old mans proved it. Was making out on the beach with some chick and the tide came in. Car floated off the beach.

Driving through North Dakota is what I imagine purgatory would be like if it was a road trip.

That and Eastern Wyoming.

Strolpol: It was 12 feet of water. I can't fathom how they were unable to get out of the car unless the doors failed on them.

It is impossible for a normal human to open a car door once the water has covered it, and the electric windows could have shorted.

/They could have tried breaking the glass, though.
