Soda-pop.

Soda-pop.

SODA-POP.

I'm suggesting this in the interests of peace, people.

If you don't WANT peace... quite frankly, I don't know what to tell you.

Maybe Arnold WAS right in Terminator 2 when he said that it's in human nature for humans to destroy themselves.

...

... but then again, he didn't have a frosty can of soda-pop.

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: Maybe Arnold WAS right in Terminator 2 when he said that it's in human nature for humans to destroy themselves.

Actually, I think he said it best in Total Recall when he said "ARARGGUGHGGUARGGHUGHAAH!" It was very poignant, and let us completely put to bed the argument over what to call soft drinks.

FishyFred [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 01:37:13 AM
The only soft drink I go out of my way to look for is Kinley and they don't have it. I even called up Coca-Cola and they told me it wasn't available in this country.

Makes sense that the world's best mixer/hangover cure would only be available in Israel.

Back when I was a kid, the barber shop we went to had one of these types of vending machines:

i36.tinypic.com

I used to always get a Frostie root beer or Dr Pepper out of it. I think they were 30 cents per bottle.

Good find, Subby. My only complaint is that the video was too short.

I shop at this joint when I can. The owner is almost always in the store, and always willing to lend his opinions on the merchandise.

Place has everything you could want, and a few that you probably wouldn't want (coffee soda anyone?)

Yeah...that's not the actual machine from my old barber shop in that photo. Otherwise, you'd see a bunch of old dark tan naugahyde chairs with metal legs all bolted to one another, stuffed deer heads on the walls and stacks of hunting magazines the end tables.

I wish that store wasn't all the way across the country, I love businesses and restaurants where the owner is very involved and passionate and sociable.

Also, It's called soda motherf*ckers.

Fark you. Soda is clear, flavorless, carbonated drink that is usually mixed with something else.

navarone54 2009-11-04 02:57:12 AM
It's coke. There is a difference between "coke" and "Coke."

A coke could be a Coke, Pepsi, root beer, orange soda, diet Mt Dew, or anything else sugary and carbonated.

A Coke is a Coke.

Soda or soft-drink.
Pop is acceptable, albeit a little hokey.
Coke is just idiotic.

BevMo's weak.

I'll be visiting this guy's place myself, all the way up in Highland park though, I'll have to get a French dip on the way

RangerDick 2009-11-04 03:00:11 AM
I have been there - the place is amazing.... The guy can talk your ear off about any bottle you pick up. This place is a treat.

The other place just as amazing is a native american store north of Las Vegas - a huge supermarket: Half fireworks(all types), half hard liquor.

I'm from Iowa and it's always been pop for me.

Next time I'm in LA, I'm heading over to this guy's store. I saw the video a while back and just knew that I had to venture halfway across the country to see this place in person. I don't care how long or how far I have to drive, fly, walk, sail, ski, or ride in on horseback: I WILL go there and get my obscure pop fix even if it kills me.

He takes requests/special orders on his site. I just ordered a half case of Black Lemonade.

I'd be interested in trying some of those flavors.

The last two times I've been over to my nearby grocer (Albertsons) they were completely out of Diet Coke. I even asked people who work there, "Do you have any Diet Coke back in the stock room?" The answer was NO, they were out of it.

How the fark do you run out of Diet Coke? It's the single most popular diet soda on the planet, and it's not like the Coca Cola factories are having a backup in producing it. It's easily available.

Any store manager with half a brain would keep at least a full palette of Coke products in the stock room, just on the chance that someone like me might want to buy some Coke products when the shelves have been picked bare.

I'd like an Ale-8(1), please.
In the deposit bottle, it tastes better.

Galco's is a regular stop of mine on any trip to L.A. Once I had a variety case of root beer and other flavors from there sent to a friend of mine in Springfield, IL. The place boggles the mind. Learned about it from the Food Network.

Remember these?:

The gas station on the corner where I hung out had one in their lobby.

Galco's is a great place. A bit of a premium, but it's to be expected. John is a really nice guy and will help you out if you don't know what you feel like drinking.
