Here ya go judge. I filled it to the top, but I couldn't find a lid, so don't spill it

Sigh. His parents (grandmother?) should have taken it away a long time ago.

Why would you buy a Wii for a child who is that bad?

Hey, they're offering to return it. Tremendous progress from the typical "We'll take your shiat, even if you're not arrested or never found guilty, and never give it back. Ever."

Now he's got MORE time on his hands. I'm all for innovative punishments but I don't think this is the answer. Manitoba justice means well but usually comes up short.

Of course not. You were never around. Now you are. By court order.

I like Judge Judy, but I doubt she would even know what a Wii was. She has stated in the past that's she's pretty much computer illiterate.

However, this does sounds like the type of sentence she would have handed down back when she was a family court judge.

The odd punishment represents the last ditch effort to curb the boy's bad behavior, which includes smashing windows at his elementary school, punching a classmate in the face, disobeying a court order to stay away from school, hitting another boy with a pool cue and attacking a teacher after a game of dodgeball.

...um. So if he were to stay away from school, the courts would give him back his video games?

not like there's any games for it anyways...

Brightflowermaid 2009-11-04 04:27:11 AM
My daughter is horrific at school, she despises it. Her reception class teacher even sent home a framed copy of her work that said 'I hate scholl, why am I heer, I have enuff of it' (she was 5 and the spelling is her own). They thought it was amusing, I was concerned that she felt that way but what do I know.
At home she is polite and keeps her room tidy, helps me cook and shop and is the nicest child to be around yet when she goes to school she screams and kicks and punch.
If the grandmother is telling the truth and he is perfectly reasonable at home, then the kid needs some kind of counselling to deal with the fact that he obviously cannot function normally in a school environment.

Since when did the courts have to ground our kids? Oh wait, all those farking children's rights advocates.

I like how the lawyer states that because shes never seen him acting up, he must not be a bad kid.
A narcissistic lawyer, if it didn't happen in my presence, it didn't happen.
Typical.

...the boy's lawyer thinks he's simply misunderstood. ..."I've never seen him enraged, I've never seen him upset. He's a 12-year-old who is generally quite scared."

No doubt. a lot of stupid thugs are scared because they assume that everybody else wants to hurt them. Because that's what they would do in the circumstances.

Judge Judy meh. You could fill a warehouse with what she doen't know. That biatch is probably only good for ruling over Sumerian law. The woman has 3 failed marriages and gives out advice on what? The rest would probably just be some "angry jew" Whargarrbl but I'll spare you all on this one occasion.

I've taught school for a year. For what it's worth, my guess is that what she hates is not school per se but the people in it, mainly her classmates.

I base that on the fact that kids generally don't mind coming to the campus outside class hours for special events and such. Indeed, there are lots of cool things in the schoolhouse (such as the lab equipment) that they like to play with and don't have at home. Also, while it often happens that some kids clash with a particular teacher or three, it is very unusual for kids to hate the entire staff who, after all, are trained to treat them well.

What adults (other than me) fail to appreciate is that sending a child to school means thrusting her into a crowd of immature strangers, many of whom rapidly realise that they can ignore the subject in hand and abuse eachother with impunity--it's what Fark would be like if you had to actually sit with these people and listen to their shiat and no one could get banned. You couldn't stand it if it were done to you, so why you think your kid needs "counselling" for hating it I can't fathom.

CarcinogenCrunchies [TotalFark] 2009-11-04 09:26:18 AM
Screw that. I'd tell the judge to take the kid instead. Then maybe I'd get to play my games for a change.

Do you see the way that most children behave in public anymore? Seriously think about it. The way they scream at their parents? The way that they run through the stores? The way that if you are driving down the street you have to nearly run over them to get them to move out of the way?

These are things that my friends or I would have ever done as a child. Why? Because we would have been spanked (possibly in public) then when we got home we would be either made to stand in a corner or sent to our rooms and not be allowed to play with the other kids for the rest of the day. Another possibility is that we would be told that we would have to go home and wait for Dad to come home from work. He would give the punishment.

I had this and so did the middle child in our family. My Mom and Dad got divorced when their 3rd child was 2. He never had any real discipline or punishment. He is now a drug addict, thief, and wanted by the police on several warrants. He was allowed to do what he wanted and turned out to be a farking asshole.

There's a difference between being grumpy and not liking school versus assaulting people, disobeying a court order, vandalism, and whatever else this kid did.
Oh, and there's also a difference between a 5 year old and a 12 year old.

Sure, counselling is probably a good idea for the kid, but he also needs the immediate lesson that there are consequences for his actions. Something that the (grand)parent(s) never got through to him.

Sigh. His parents (grandmother?) should have taken it away a long time ago.

And this is why it will have little-to-no effect on the boy's future behavior. The courts don't have the time to parent the kid. It's a shame, because grandparents are supposed to have the luxury of spoiling their grandchildren.

Brightflowermaid
My daughter is horrific at school, she despises it...

I'm not surprised. I absolutely hated school until they placed me into the track 1 classes in 6th grade. They realized I didn't belong in the track 2 classes when they figured out that I could actually read without stumbling over every word. I wish I was exaggerating.. the majority of my classmates were complete idiots.

Fubar that kid's wii right there in the court...and then destroy his video game console.

The Wii sucks anyway.
