What's sad is that here in the US they don't use the British formula, which I assume to be better.

/like the stuff anyway

FTFA: Brian Keogh, who died in 2006, said that he discovered the original recipe in two leather-bound folios written in sepia ink.

This guy is giving posthumous interviews now?

John Wheeley Lea and William Henry Perrins were some prostitute murdering scoundrels buy boy could they ever whip up some good sauce.

Love me some Lea & Perrins!

Work it into just about any meat recipe. Adds a nice little complexity to the flavor.

This is just so bizarre. I haven't had Worcestershire sauce in probably half a year, but I had some tonight and I was looking at the ingredients, along with some phrase about how Lea & Perrins had been around for 150+ years or whatever.

And I'm looking at the ingredients, and I'm thinking, "uh, I'm betting they didn't use high fructose corn syrup 150 years ago." And fark if Fark doesn't have a thread about the original ingredients.

/I know, I know, cool story
//But an interesting coincidence to ME, at least

To think it took someone to trash dig to find it; apparently someone else at the company thought it was completely worthless, mere trash...

Now, think about how much other history (corporate and otherwise) is lost in this very same manner.

Of course, it doesn't matter for today's sauce, which is likely fairly different from the original sauce; even so, you would think that the person who pitched it could have looked at it and said "Hmm - maybe we could remake the 'original' and sell it as an anniversary/classic edition, with a proper marketing campaign, etc - AND MAKE SOME $$$!" - he or she would've likely gotten some kudos, if not a raise from such a scheme (at least, I would hope so).

Instead, they need to find this doof and can their butt.

/all that's needed now is some brave person to remake the sauce from the recipe.
//...and a braver soul willing to taste-test it!
