No, the strangest thing about this story is that the family didn't run and get a lawyer to sue the pants off of the produce company and Foxnews still reported it.

I think it's really funny that company asked them to mail the lettuce and frog to them...how silly.

Check out what's permitted in various foodstuffs sometime, you might be surprised. Mind you, I think they draw the line at amphibians.

No, the strangest thing about this story is that the frog wasn't the species that is hounded by a female pig and kept saying "Jeesh" and Fox News still reported it.

From what I understand. Critters end up in produce shipped to grocery stores all the time. Spiders in bannanas and whatnot.

Hopefully that frog doesn't reproduce with American frogs and create a super frog race.

Is this farking country so sterilized with handy-wipes and germ spray that a naturally-occurring frog in bag of farking salad is news?
Yes.

I worked at a restaurant way back in the day. We'd very rarely find a frog or large snail in sealed bags of chopped lettuce. Always alive, for whatever reason.

And why is a D.C. affiliate reporting on a suburban Detroit Bart's-People-type story?

By releasing it, might they have upset the balance and introduced a new species that the local environment won't be able to cope with?

Guess they'll be the ones sued.

Those assholes wanted her to mail the damn frog? Poor thing. I would have kept him as a pet.

So, new trick to get free produce in hard times?

Step 1: Collect frog, lizard, or spider from your front yard.
Step 2: Stick the creature in your bag of lettuce, carrots, etc, and mail it off to the grocery store, or just take a picture like this lady did with a random frog from your yard. If they find this unacceptable, call them heartless animal killers so they feel guilty and give in.
Step 3: Recieve coupons/vouchers for free food or threaten to sue. Win.

First of all, this is a bad job market.

Second of all? I am 21 years old, and I have severe scoliosis and even more severe degenerative disc disease. I'm on the kind of painkillers that would kill a 300 lb man. Most of my time is spent sleeping, crying, visiting doctors, and pleading with this farked up healthcare system to HELP ME. After 2 years of this nonsense, I finally got my medical history, all the x-rays, the 10 or so MRI's, sent to Shan's in Gainesville, and it's my one good shot to get out of this hell. If they don't take my case, I will probably blow my brains out. I have to use cannabis to get through the day or else I wouldn't be able to eat. I was down to 88 lbs until my doctor prescribed me marinol, which is lab made THC in a pill. Its 1,000 gd mother effing dollars for a months supply, 30 with my insurance. If I didn't have insurance, I'd have offed myself probably a year ago. Why don't YOU get off fark and get a job?

Holy crap! You mean these vegetables are grown outside? I thought they were manufactured in a sterilized plant in Ohio.

I agree.... free frog! He's probably devastated by being sealed in a plastic bag, frozen (yep, most produce is frozen for transport), and tossed around in a grocery store cooler for a few days.

The frog should sue.

Actually, I was referring to steps the hypothetical person reading your advice could take instead of a long, convoluted plan to get some free lettuce.

You do realize that in suicides and even murders, it is the property owner's job to clean up the blood or brains or decomp etc. The cops take the body and leave the mess for you. It's really quite appalling the government hasn't created a program for that, but it's not a law and they wont do anything they dont have to do. In big cities you can hire murder scene clean up crews, but those sorts of businesses do not exist everywhere in the country yet, and it's an expensive endeavor.

I'm a female. Not a "man" or a "dude."

I'm grumpy. I'm really hungry, but I have this awful cancker sore just inside my lip so it's pretty much impossible to eat unless I get really really stoned. My back hurts. I have no friends, because they all faded out of the picture as my epic medical drama kept going on and on. The only friend/lover I still have is in Kabul, Afghanistan until mid January. I have 6 cats, and I talk to them. I'm on antidepressants but they aren't really working. And my steps were meant as a joke, not serious advice.
