The United States already has some of the highest labor costs in the world. Our inefficient health care delivery system that is directly tied to employment makes us even less efficient.

Real health care reform is tied to a robust economy. And the United States cannot remain a military superpower in the world without having a superior economy.

And THIS is why republicans need to be ran out of town on a rail. They're not at all concerned about the well being of the public. They admittedly don't want health care reform not, as they publicly claim, because it will fail but rather because they know it will work and don't want it counted as "the other teams" victory. This point can't be hammered home enough. If we as a people want what is best for us we need identify those who are not working in our best interest and remove them at the ballot box.
This, of course, goes for Democrats as well since there are many of them who also answer to corporate interest.

That would fit if his argument were that the health care reform would lead to a collapse of our economy or a ruining of our health care system or something, and must be stopped.

But what he said was it might lead to people relying more on government and being beholden to Democrats, and we just can't have that.

I mostly agree with your first two thoughts, however disagree that the proposed health care plan helps. Your final thought is just BS and you know it.

I've been saying it for ages, todays Republicans are not just the opposition party, they are the party of opposing everything. Which will only be a winning strategy as long as they're opposing something that ends up working out poorly, or something that they can successfully block where there is no negative result. As soon as the economy improves, and a good healthcare system gets passed, they're farked, because all the rational people will remember is "these people fought it tooth and nail." And while they might have a good 30% of the population as their base (and its not growing), 30% does not get you very far on the national stage.

This is a good thing, because the Democrats have a lot of crappy ideas about what to do with health care insurance problems.

Unfortunately, it has no additional details than they've had for the past 10 months. When pressed for numbers about cost, percent of new folks covered, how it will lower health care expense, etc, Boehner admitted they hadn't actually thought about that stuff much because, well, it "isn't their job."
