I just can't understand how some people don't think that Achtung Baby is an incredible record. I do however understand the argument for everything after that.

Yeah, that's the one. It's a damned good CD.
Note to Bono: Suck less, and you will sell more albums. A man cannot live on ego alone.

Yes, plus The Fly, Zoo Station, Until the End of the World, So Cruel, and One.
johan heggs tiny man nipples:You know what I would buy? A DVD of Bono getting thrown from an airplane at 30,000 feet, into a volcano, while having 30 lbs of tnt strapped to him.
I'd pay upwards of 20 bucks to see that.
Aside from that I would really like to never hear anything from U2 again.
Sounds like you are a fan of Scientology my Xenu brother!
Note to Bono: Suck less, and you will sell more albums. A man cannot live on ego alone.
Loved Achtung Baby. Thought Zooropa was vastly underrated. Not a big fan of anything after that.
That being said, this tour was disappointing. The stage setup was amazing, but I have never seen them just seem to go through the motions like they did this time around.
Second note to Bono: Taking 5 years to deliver sub-par albums does not impress your loyal fan base.

Wombatzu:Bono from U2 says Rock and Roll is dying off, cites poor sales of last album as 'proof'. Fails to mention U2 hasn't made good album since 1987 2000
Fails to mention how Katy Perry is the best thing to happen to pop and/or rock music in a decade...and that is not an endorsement of the current musical situation.

No, it actually came from (I think) an old Dragonlance book where Tasslehoff Burrfoot talks about someone dying by falling off a cliff into the mouth of a lion thats on fire.
Trey Le Parc:He calls himself free but he charges people $100 to see him. He should change his name to the Latin equivalent of "sellout".
Hey, those glasses of his ain't free, y'know.
That being said, U2 might not be cranking out the hits like they used to, but their music is still better than 90% of the crapfest that calls itself "Rock and Roll" these days.

Me farting in the bathtub after an evening of hot wings and beer is probably better then 90% of "Rock and Roll" these days. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

When a concert becomes more about jumping around while some shaven ape hamemrs on a guitar in some lazy alternate tuning...you know rock is dead.

There are new bands making great rock music, it's just that careerists like U2 don't when to call it a day.
