(Reuters) Departing Doctor Who David Tennant cast as lead in new 'comedic legal drama' on NBC. Pale and opinionated Who fans huddled in basements everywhere shudder at the thought of another "Trial of a Timelord", self-indulgent headline
another ferner in our teevee dramas? first it was hugh laurie and simon baker. then tim roth. now this guy? why cain't we get real 'murkans to star on our own damn teevee shows?
And hes going to fake an American accent since hes supposedly from Chicago. Do they think we wont watch a show where the character has a Brittish accent?

Don't forget Anna Friel from Pushing Daisies, Kevin McKidd in Journeyman, Michelle Ryan from Bionic Woman (yes, that counts), Ian MacShane in Deadwood, and Damian Lewis from Life.

Just off the top of my head.
Yeah, Hollywood has started stealing Brits because apparently they can't find 30-something or 40-something American actors who are "fresh" to American viewers. There was an article I read about 6 months ago about this. And honestly, I really don't mind they do this, since most of these actors are theater transplants.
or whatshisname - the irish actor who had the lead in the short-lived "life on mars" remake. he was actually pretty good.
incidentally, tim roth is freaking brilliant in "lie to me." so brilliant, in fact, that it makes all his costars seem like stock TV drama actors. they're not bad - and they're trying hard - but roth is absolutely effortless in his portrayal. i hope the show sticks around so they can fine-tune it.
In the temporal justice system, the glactic citizens are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the Time Lords, who preserve time and space per the guidance of the teachings of Rassilon, and the Daleks, who just farking exterminate everything. These are their stories.

Tennant doesn't have a British accent. He has a Scottish accent. He had to "fake" the Estuary accent for Doctor Who, just like he'll probably "fake" an American accent for this show.

Peter Purves in episode 4 of "The Chase"... Worst British actor doing an American Accent EVER!
Mind you, the guy iving the tour on the top of the Empire State Building was pretty bad, too.

I've been rewatching Journeyman on Hulu. And it's doing a fantastic job of pissing me off all over again that it got canceled.

If I weren't working on something I'd photoshop some glasses onto David Tennant and make a four panel comic strip

Definitely this. I loved the final episodes of both which made me annoyed they were both canceled.
I also miss Pushing Daisies.

They canceled the TV show and turned around and made a very bad movie out of it. Sigh.
