It's a shame I missed this. I watched the first part of the interview earlier tonight, but shut it off pretty quickly. The interview bored me.

Maybe you're typing it wrong. Remember, it's col-bear, rather than col-bert.

Glad to help.

usspeedskating.org has a link to donate. It's odd that didn't have one on Colbert Nation. They're usually on top of things like that.

What I find most interesting is that we are being asked to donate as individuls directly to help one of the olympic teams. I can't recall this being done before. Makes me want to give a few nickels, or fifty bucks or more.

CravenMorehead 2009-11-03 08:49:43 AM
He's doing a sweepstakes too. Donate $20 and you could win a trip to Vancouver to watch them skate. Pretty cool stuff.

He'll want to buy the Dominican Republic men's figure skating team.

It is still really cool that Stephen Colbert is doing this for the American Speedskating Team. I have been a fan of speedskating for as long as I can remember. It is always my favorite sport to watch during the Winter Olympics and it is why I know who that beautiful woman above is.

I think the real point of the story is that $300,000 buys you ad space on the speed skater's uniforms for the Olympics. We could have raised the money and thrown a certain iconic squirrel on there.

Colbert didn't actually pay. He is asking the "nation" to make donations to raise the $300k.

Absolutely Fox will be all over this! Remember, according to them, you're only supposed to cheer when the US LOSES in the Olympics. Now a team is backed by a parody of one of their own? C'mon, "Papa Bear", Rush, Hannity...SOMEONE is going to make mention of this and it will be to their detriment.

How much would I pay to see NBC trying to blur that out in all their broadcasts? $100? I think probably more.

When every single person in the country skates on frozen canals each winter for fun, I think you can expect that.

Obviously, Colbert should help fund an interlinked snow-belt canal system. Not only will it promote skating, it will provide an alternative mode of eco-friendly transportation, and will finally put those Dutch bastards in their place!

well yeah, there is that reason. But I was getting at that the Dutch are the greatest speedskaters because they produce such hotties like Marianne Timmer.
