1.) Make some ordinary 60's music with a mentally ill, drug-addicted singer (and arguably talented lyricist)

2.) Give him lots of drugs in Paris and let nature take its course

3.) Profit. For years and years and years

HagarTheHorrible: The Doors had lots of bass players.

Each concert they would pick some lucky fan from the line outside, hand him a bass, and put him on stage. That's why you never see a bass player in their TV appearances.

But this was funny for about the first 01:15 and then it turned into an over-long MAD TV skit. With swearing.

Reminds me of another quote...

Hey ladies, imagine meeting a guy at the supermarket. He looks at your groceries and tells you he's a chef. He then proceeds to list all the items he makes at home, such as sandwiches, instant noodles and microwaveable dinners. That's what you sound like to us when you call yourself "gamer girls".

It's okay. Recent studies show that rock and roll is, in fact, dying. Popular music has been on the wane since 1974, the year of the first Bad Company release. I look forward to the dominance of jazz!

Rock is kid's music.

If you're seriously into it past 25 you have serious growth problems and should see a doctor immediately.

Eddie Hazel's E string: And FWIW, The Doors (self-titled) is the best album for the uninitiated.

Are you trying to school someone who grew up listening to The Doors? They're a fine band with some decent tunes but they're vastly overrated, just like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Nirvana. They're just rock bands, people - not gods.

Glimmerous Fop 2009-11-03 05:03:06 PM
RockIsDead: Rock is kid's music.

Very true.

It's one thing to listen to rock and roll once in a while, for fun or when you need something mindless on the radio to keep you awake in the car, but the sorts of people who obsess over it as if it's some sort of art form are sad. The vast majority of rock and roll sounds pretty much the same, and the garbage "music" made today that is descended from rock and roll (i.e. pop) is offensive to my ears. Worse, it's hard to escape it, as it's played in grocery stores and book stores and restaurants and everywhere else.

I liken rock and roll to Harry Potter books. It's decent as an introduction to music, but there so much more, and the better stuff is so much more pleasing to the ear, even if it takes more work to appreciate it. Learn to like Faulkner and it's hard to go back to Harry Potter. Learn to like Richard Strauss or Miles Davis, and it's hard to go back to repetitive guitar tracks, inane lyrics, and drummers who can't shut up.

Anyone who likes rap should be shot.
