Science is not completely outside of the realm of human involvement. Human involvement means that human considerations are part of the process. Not shocked at all to see a large financial windfall for the person who has pioneered the whole movement.

Seconded. I've actually made a lot of (on paper) money over this last year because I've been slowly investing in companies that manage green technology ventures, because seriously - unless someone figures out how to make petroleum from from ass-fat in the next decade, there is no safer long term bet than alt-energy.

Only because most of these companies would fail tomorrow without government subsidies. No one biatches about Mr. Dell, or Gates, or Exxon, because they make something that is useful in and of itself. Something we have all sought out on our own to buy. The only way these wind farms and such are economically feasible is if you tax everyone and give the money to the manufacturer. I'd rather have non polluting and much cheaper nuclear energy, but you assholes won't let me.

While were talking, maybe you can explain something to me. For some reasons your unhappy when someone makes a ton of money off their own investment capital and an idea. But when someone else makes their money off an idea and investment capital raised by taxing me and everyone else and forcing us to buy their electricity (and charging us higher rate than we would pay for nuclear to boot) your just thrilled about it.
