Germans? Humorless?

AdolfOliverPanties [TotalFark] 2009-11-02 06:38:31 PM
I'm sure the Germans will be able to get into the show on TV that has more quirky little weird jokes and in-humor callbacks of any program since Arrested Development. TV studio parlance and American colloquialisms will catch on very quickly over there.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2009-11-02 06:43:53 PM
The humor in 30 Rock is too inside for most Americans. Why would anyone expect Germans to get it?

Kyosuke [TotalFark] 2009-11-02 06:45:55 PM
Gee, a New York-specific American TV-specific show wasn't a hit in a foreign county?

\not a fan, either.

FTFA: COLOGNE, Germany (Hollywood Reporter) - "30 Rock" scored a 0.0 rating in its debut on German television Sunday night, meaning fewer than 5,000 viewers tuned in for the Emmy-winning comedy.

Okay, I have one question: Why would anyone want to air "30 Rock" in Germany?

whereisian 2009-11-02 07:18:36 PM
Paste David Hasselhoff's head onto Tina Fey's body. Problem solved.

Kierkegaard's Pseudonym 2009-11-02 07:19:34 PM
Probably because Frau Zitrone sounds like some sort of prostate medication.

WayToBlue 2009-11-02 07:20:45 PM
30 rock is awesome - that is all.

hawtsautz 2009-11-02 07:21:13 PM
So.. does this ZDFNeo channel usually draw more than 5000 viewers?

wookiemonster 2009-11-02 07:21:57 PM
30 rock first season = funny
30 rock second season = overly political and not funny.
30 rock third season = middling and boring.

Sad when "Parks and Recreation" is now funnier than 30 rock.

Need_MindBleach 2009-11-02 07:26:06 PM
Wow, I'm shocked that a low-rated show about the New York TV industry consisting mostly of inside jokes and parodies would flop overseas.

The producers and writers of 30 Rock, with the assistance of Maximus Decimus Meridius are in the process of writing personal letters to all the people they failed to entertain with their show.

/Are you not entertained?! Then turn the farking show off.
//Gee whiz.

deadapostle [TotalFark] 2009-11-02 07:36:50 PM
I'd be happy if they brought back My Name is Earl (without the crap since Alyssa Milano joined).

Translation:

first season = it was undiscovered, saying you liked it made you feel hip

second and third season = it started winning awards and getting talked about, so now it's "so yesterday"

All I want is Tina Fey to write a humorous two-liner as to why Europeans don't understand American humor, as spoken by Alec Baldwin.

"Blurg."

jedzz 2009-11-02 07:49:01 PM
Oh man. From the headline, I thought that Dave Barry, Stephen King, and Amy Tan would be appearing on the show.

Would have had better ratings if there were pooping.

/Seriously, what the fark is wrong with German people?

liz: "he called me something that rhymes with the name of your favorite todd rundgren album!"
frank: "he called you something that rhymes with 'the hermit of mink hollow?'

nope. i see no reason why that wouldn't go over in germany.

Pretty much.

The dialogue between Arnett and Baldwin in the second episode this season was priceless. However, Stone Mountain was fairly dumb.

don't they know Sara Palin stars in it?

Great Janitor 2009-11-02 08:32:25 PM
This season has really made me want to hit Liz, and then punch her in the face.

Yes, she looks good and I would so plow that, given that I could duct tape her mouth shut after she was finished sucking me off.

Her personality just rubs me the wrong way. Like writing a book telling women no to date men who wear name tags. So, man's worth isn't who he is, but what job he holds? And, don't medical Doctors wear name tags? Or last week's episode where her scouting the entire nation for new talent consisted of what she wanted, not what her boss wanted because she clearly doesn't like that demographic.

/Now I giggle when anyone mentions 'chuckle'.

Translation of translation:

You don't catch onto it until you saw it in People when it won an Emmy, and now want to jump on the bandwagon by pretending like it's as good now as it always was

I'm confused. According to this site, 30 Rock is set to debut Nov. 4th in Germany, so I'm not sure what TFA is talking about.

Hey, that's pretty good! Are you German?

Swampthing in Korea 2009-11-02 08:54:22 PM
That's because the Germans find amusement in other things, like invading other nations and wiping out minorities.

tatasm 2009-11-02 08:55:57 PM
to be honest, what most Germans find funny would probably be illegal in the US.

subtlehavok 2009-11-02 09:07:26 PM
Germany already has a 30 rock-like show called "30 Poopenstein" in which 30 shirtless, ripped german dudes poop into the unwilling mouth of whatever minority they hate at the most that week.
Which as tatasm said, would be not be legal to show here.
Thank God.
