(Contact Music) Artie Lange turned down $200,000 to participate in "Celebrity Rehab," claiming it exploits stars. Hey, first you're not really a celebrity and 200 grand buys a lot of smack, dude
This is bullshiat. Lange's 'outrage' about Celebrity Rehab started when Dr. Drew came on the show where Lange started attacking him non-stop because he was in the midst of a heroin binge. Lange kept this up for a few months up until he got in a car wreck where the cops on scene thought he was high. The results of this accident led Lange to plead guilty/no contest to the charges.
The man's a drug fiend and a fraud and is using his own take on the Drew appearances on the Howard Stern show (he was invited by Stern himself, as a matter of fact) to gain some publicity for his future book. And it's a bit weird that Lange is spouting this shiat after he went on a bender for a few weeks from the show as well.
Artie is right, but Dr. Drew has good intentions. I can't say the same for the rest of the staff for the show though. I dunno, I applaud Dr. Drew for trying to educate people about the dangers of drugs, and actually getting into peoples heads about why they turn to drugs in the first place. Not just trying to get them clean for the moment.
If you could save yourself, you'd save us all Is that what you called me for, is that why you're knocking on my door? The time I've spent, working myself to death Thought that's what you wanted I thought you needed my help To make it good again, to make us strong To make you happy, to push you along And gain some respect, to be thrown a crumb I was on my knees, when you knocked me down
True story: I decided to go back to college and earn a degree in Social Work with a primary focus on becoming a substance abuse counselor because I watched Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Since I have returned back to college I have maintained a 4.0 GPA I am on the verge of graduating with my first degree and plans to continue my education and earn higher degrees in the Social Work field. All because of an explotative reality show about "drugged out washed up has been celebrities." If nothing else that show was able to provide at least one positive thing and that is me with a direction in my life and a college education.

Did anyone happen to catch his segment with Olivia Munn on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? Quite possibly the hardest I've laughed at anything in the past few months.
He works on the Stern show, so he knows a thing or two about exploitation.
God, Artie is such a waste of life. If you're so deep in shiat that the smartest career move you can make is suck on a shotgun barrel, it's time to... well... you know.

Yikes... Artie Lange, Jimmy Fallon, and Olivia Munn?
That's like a vortex of "unfunny" and "trying too hard."
/If you're a fan, then I'm glad you liked it, but I find them all obnoxious.

Two things, since this is an interesting post:
1. What kind of education do you need for social work? From my understanding, it's got a strong liberal arts foundation, but I'm not entirely sure. It's a field that's had a draw for me in the past.
Why is everyone on the Dis Artie bandwagon? By all accounts, he's a really nice guy who has problems. That show does exploit stars. No question. Dr. Drew apparently does good work, too. Celebrities are a screwed up bunch of people as a rule. It takes a screwed up individual to crave attention like that.

Well I am finishing up my AAS degree with emphasis on social work, next fall I am transfering to a 4 year college and finishing up my BSW and then from there get my MSW. So by the time I am finished I will have my Masters of Social Work degree and after liscencing I will be a Liscenced Clinical Social Worker, I will be qualified to conduct psychotherapy and have a private practice. At that level of education in social work I will be doing a lot of the things psychologists used to do. In fact most practicioners of pyschotherapy in America these days are not as a matter of fact psychologists but are LCSW's

Because Artie doesn't help himself. Sure, he's a nice guy. Sure, he's funny. But he has been given the world (celebrity career, money, best job you could ever have, girlfriend who loved him) and he relapsing and f*cking things up.
He's lucky he's still got the Stern show. Once that's gone, he really has no reason to live.
