I'm not a fan of '80s music as a rule; I prefer 60s and 70s anarchy and weirdo 21st century beats.

But "Avalon" is everything right about 80s music, and nothing wrong. If the Earth exploded, I would want that album to represent my high school years to some alien culture.

/can't believe Bon Jovi has almost turned into Bruce Springsteen

Listen to Roxy Music's More Than this, then listen to Ferry's Slave to Love, one fits with the other. Really isn't that much different about a lot of Ferry's stuff from Roxy Music.

Not a knock on him, btw.

They're both from Jersey, what do you expect?

Two albums that everyone should own.

Though I'm partial to Love is the Drug and Mother of Pearl.

/glad to see I'm not the only Roxy Music fan around here

Avalon.

Best. Make-out. Album. EVER.

I love all the guitar work on "boy and girls"...
he really rangled in some great guitatists for that one...
Mark Knopfler, Pete Townshend, David Gilmour, etc.

you guys are right about "b and g" and "avalon" being similar.
same production values [shimmery and warm], similar songs, etc.

I, myself, prefer "avalon", tho.

But i could never get myself to like "the Main thing".
Everything else is stellar tho.

Bleah, DJ Hell.

How anyone can go from making acid anthems to doing crappy house tunes with P. Diddy on them is beyond me.

I knew I'd never be as smooth as Bryan Ferry once I started going bald. But I can always be as cheesy.

One should never be ashamed to admit liking early glam. I'm not much of Bryan Ferry fan though. More of Brian Eno guy. Psychedelic compounds may have been involved. Also, this project sounds like a great idea... 10 years ago.

I like playing "Love is the Drug" for people who have never heard it before and making them guess what year it was recorded. Good times.

For the most part (excepting "Avalon"), I prefer it.

All props to Bryan Ferry, but going techno is not a good idea.

Jeez. Grab Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Daniel Ash, and some ubiquitous drummer, and form a super-group. THAT would get my attention.

Teaming up with a "DJ" (read: Dude who can't make his own music, but makes a living by messing with other people's music) is just plain stupid. They're not musicians. I'm 100% with Rollins in my opinion of them.

How does Daniel Ash fit in there?

No, no, no, DJs are dudes who talk on the radios and push buttons to start old songs, get our facts straight

It could actually be done, but he would probably blend in with the Kompakt or Border Community sound a heck of a lot better than DJ Hell.

The Field, Superpitcher, the MFA, James Holden.

I think everyone likes the Field. Even people who can't stand electronic music seem to love it.
