Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels says he can't wait for the World Series to be over. Judging by the way he pitched in game 3, you can tell he meant it

Like most Americans.. we can't wait either. This is the purchased WS.. means nothing.
Can't wait for sports media to completely tear apart the Yanks WS (safely assuming)..

This just in, Lidge walked and hit another batter! and unrelated.. but the Eagles scored again.

To be fair, he does have a tee-time in Palm Springs on Wednesday.

So lets get this out of the way:

When the Yankees win a World Series: "Waaahhhhh! The Yankees bought a World Series!!!"
When the Yankees don't win a World Series: "Yaaaayyyy! Money doesn't buy a World Series!"

So, it's OK if your team spent an astronomical amount to win a World Series, as long as it's less than what the Yankees spent.

Of course it started.....haven't you noticed how they keep rescheduling the new episodes of House? I thought it was weird at first too. Farking irritating.

That's right, maybe if baseball didn't end so freaking late in the year people would pay more attention.. By now I'm too far into college football and European soccer to give two shiats about baseball anymore.

Baseball needs a CBA that has a salary cap, plain and simple. Works in Football to keep any team competive and so far looks to be working for hockey.

If baseball was a bit more competitive, I'm sure it would win back a lot of its fan. But its not...its a boring payroll battle.

Why do people hate the Yankees when they are obviously the best team in baseball?

Yep, she's hot. He's also got a newborn child at home. The NLCS game that he pitched he had to leave in the 4th or 5th to attend the birth of the baby... that's how newborn his child is. While I know that people that can make balls fly in the correct direction amaze people into forgetting that they're human, he is. Newborns make you sleep deprived, and when you're sleep deprived, you say stupid sh*t, especially if you're just a jock in the first place.

Or maybe it is just the stress. Once the magic wears off of making it to such a high level, you can get really self-critical. He did so well last year that he may have been beating himself up since April over not living up to his own high standards.

Yeah, every other World Series was contested between two teams of amateurs, playing only for love of the game.

Take your overly-romanticized notion of professional athletics and cram it. The Yankees are playing by the rules, you don't like it.

Oh well.

i haven't paid attention to baseball in years started with the mets in 84 and ended it with the yankees until the loss mattingly and boggs. I think i'll start watching again and be a mets fan. my family is going to be pissed.

You might end up on the DL by just being a fan, too.

I believe a better twist of the dagger would be something like this: "If everyone hates losing to a team of over-paid mercenaries like the Yankees, then why do they all keep doing it?"

I love my Phillies; they have heart and really seem like a cohesive, confident team. Unfortunately, what they don't have is the ability to savage a bullpen in the World Series that their opponents do.

Its the nature of sports, Yankee fans love the yankees, everyone else hates them. Why? because of a level of success. Anyone know runs a business knows what they Yankees are doing is best for the Yankees business. The Boss bought the club for few million and turned it into a billion dollar enterprise. He revived yankee baseball in the late 70s and brought it to a world class team.

Why does everyone hate them? Other clubs haven't got the success and pity the Yankees over "buying" players to win. Reality is its not the Yankees fault the other owners are swimming in 100 year old brandy while watching their team sink into 100 year "curse". You want someone to blame for your teams crappy performance, blame management.

I don't have any kids myself, nor a million dollar contract, but I can understand his sentiment I suppose. One day when I have a kid, work is the last place I'd want to be.
