Exactly. Context is everything:

GIBBS: On the first part, Jeff, you know, look, I think -- I don't -- I used to have it calculated, I should just go back and do it, the number of hours that he has spent in these meetings is probably now -- well, at the end of today will probably be getting close to 20 direct hours of his time.

Gibbs is talking about 7 specific meetings, not Obama's ENTIRE time dealing with different people along the chain of command in regards to Afghanistan.

But go ahead and keep criticizing a president in time of war, subby. Because, as you know, it's only bad when WE do it.

seven specific meetings with those principals. not total meetings on afghanistan. but if it helps sooth your fauxtrage, run with it.

i do love, by the way, how you fark independents™ are so concerned over afghanistan now (just like suddenly, miraculously concerned with deficits, i suppose). remember, it was your messiah who let the taliban fester and let bin laden escape at tora bora so we could commit 4,000 american lives and trillions of dollars to the invasion and occupation of iraq.

It's not like the man has had a serious economic crisis to deal with that's more of an immediate threat to our national security than Afghanistan is. You know.....worst economic collapse since the Great Depression? Ring any bells? It's also not like he can't delegate responsibility to, say, some sort of, perhaps "war department" or something. Also not like, after years of neglecting the Afghanistan campaign, it might take some time to get a detailed assessment of what is and isn't going on over there in order to be able to make informed decisions as to what our goals should be and how to go about them.

Oh, no. The President should have ignored the economic crisis and started micromanaging the Afghanistan war, making decisions based on his gut and faith in God rather than waiting on good intelligence and taking time to formulate a plan.

But it's relevant. Any Bush supporter who whines about Obama playing golf is competing for world's biggest hypocrite. Obama's vacation time so far is quite reasonable and far, far less than what the previous President took.

lol. i'm not angry. i'm amused. i find the spittle-flecked, red-faced impotent rage of seething republicans risible.

i love it when they are reminded how they once said that criticizing a president during a time of war was tantamount to treason.
i love it when they are reminded that their man erased thesurplus and plunged the nation into deficit with nary a peep from those who now cry about deficits.
i love it when they are reminded how they once marginalized afghanistan and bin laden in favor of a hasty invasion of iraq yet are now squawking that we're not being hasty enough in afghanistan.

angry? hardly. i'm ecstatic.

Will Obama heed the recommendation made by the General he appointed to assess the situation? Yes or no. It's a simple question he has been contemplating for over two months. RIGHT NOW there are troops in harm's way that were sent there by Obama.

FTFA:

Question: "What exactly has the President taken away from all these meetings that he's had? This is the seventh one he's had, today."

Gibbs: "I think the President strongly believes that it's important for the American people and for the international community to know his reasoning behind whatever decision he makes, and to clearly explain our goals and objectives in Afghanistan, in Pakistan, and the region as a whole ... I used to have it calculated, I should just go back and do it, the number of hours that he has spent in these meetings is probably now -- well, at the end of today will probably be getting close to 20 direct hours of his time."

Nice, Obama spends 20 hours in meetings in a single day and from that we can claim that he spent 20 hours in 8 1/2 months.

I think it's pretty clear the submitters don't even bother to RTFA.

So now the intelligence the President gets is good, and should be relied upon?

He's not micromanaging the war by taking months to decide whether or not to give his commander the troops he requested?
