Suck it, Cheney.

Perhaps Cheney will follow in the footstep of another forgetful political figure, Reagan.

Alzheimer's disease is a horribly cruel and devastating way to go... however perfectly apt, karmatically, for Cheney.

I think we all know this is a lie, a cover up by the government to hide what Cheney REALLY said, "Error 4375: File encrypted, Access Denied."

Given the previous administration's tendency to overwrite backup tapes containing years of email and use 3rd-party email providers for official business, more like "404 Not Found."

Say it ain't so, Dick.

The thing is, no one involved in the whole Plame affair had any idea that it was going to spiral out of control like it did. It doesn't surprise me one bit that he cannot recall a lot of the conversations about it, as they were mostly in his mind trivial banter. While there are many who like to pretend that it's a big conspiracy, a 'hit job' to take down a political opponent, there's not really evidence to indicate it. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."

Doesn't stupidity enter into the criminal realm at some point?

Negligence does. Especially when you have that kind of power over other people's lives and careers- using it casually is immoral.

jjorsett 2009-11-02 09:17:22 AM
On 72 occasions, according to the 28-page FBI summary, Cheney equivocated to the FBI during his lengthy May 2004 interview, saying he could not be certain in his answers to questions about matters large and small in the Plame controversy.

Given what happened to Scooter Libby, that's exactly what you should do if there's the least uncertainty in your mind. Otherwise, if your account of events differs from someone else's, even in an inconsequential matter, you face going to prison for lying to the feds. These days, I'd personally go even further and refuse to talk to a fed. There's no upside to it, and a huge downside. If they think they have something on me, bring charges, but at least they won't be able to gin up a charge of lying.

Stupidity doesn't get you convicted of lying. As Mr. Libby was.

This pathetic excuse for a man needs to face multiple indictments on multiple criminal charges, some involving crimes against the State...treason comes to mind.

George Washington would have had him shot at dawn for his lack of committment to the Principles of Our Democracy.

Oh! and BTW, the present FOX inspired Rabble that call themselves Teabaggers and Tax MalCONtents would have been delt with by Washington the way he dealt with the Whiskey Rebellion for better or worse. All these Morans are degrading the America they are claiming to defend...and there's a Freebooting Aussie who's laughing al the way to the Bank as America slides into decline thanks to AssHoles like Beck, Limbaugh, Coulter, Dick Armey, Clubbed for Growth, Citz fer Prosperity and so on.

Was it ever proven that there was a crime committed in releasing the identity of Plame long after she had ceased any operations abroad? Libby went down for perjury alone.

As somebody that works in the field that Cheney so flippantly disregards and feeds leaks to the press about, I can tell you there are plenty of "stupid" (not malicious) actions that could land you in prison, or worse. Personally I believe he was being malicious, though I'm open-minded enough to accept general stupidity as an alternative explanation. Either way, the man swore an oath to protect this country. He's a filthy piece of shiat.

If you parse enough words right I'm sure you can figure out a way that Cheney isn't guilty for outing Plame, but the fact is

-- Outing CIA active duty operative, which she was, is a treasonable offense,

-- Every so called right wing defender of our country rallied to Cheney's defense and tries to justify it as OK cause their guy did it.

I don't know what was more disgusting from the whole episode, Cheney or his defenders. but the fact remains if a Democrat had done anything remotely like this he'd have been up on charges and possibly impeached.

mycatisposter: He "didn't have sex with that woman" either.

If Clinton had just said "I do not recall having sex with that woman" he could have saved himself a lot of trouble.

Or Republicans at the time would have found a way to get around around the "I don't recall" bullshiat that they pull every single time they are called to testify about something illegal or reprehensible.

And the world would be a better place for it.

What's that, that they're not willing to prosecute just because a portion of their base hates Cheney and would like to see him thrown in prison, regardless of the evidence?

Don't even go that far. Just tell them you're invoking your 5th amendment rights.

The 5th Amendment doesn't protect you from being forced to testify against others (who will, in turn, testify against you.) Falsely claiming that you don't recall ensures that their memory stays precisely as bad as yours.

And retards. Retards who really can't take the shock of another major GOP scandal, especially one that involves the GOP being detrimental to national defense, so they say whatever they can to themselves and others in order to reassure themselves that the party they are absurdly loyal too is actually the greatest thing ever for America.

You really think that is what happened to Scooter? You do know he was convicted of both perjury and obstruction of justice. The jury certainly didn't think his lies were about inconsequential matters.

I thought you could only be compelled to testify with a grant of at least limited immunity, that you had to get something in the bargain for waiving or surrendering your 5th Amendment rights?

Reagan (awaking): What happened? Where am I?

Doctor: You've been shot by a crazed Gunman. And you have Alzheimer's Disease. I'm very sorry, Mr.President.

Reagan: That's Ok. At least I don't have Alzheimer's disease.
