Poor Bucs.

I grew a special area of hatred for them after being my team in the last Superbowl appearance by both, but now I just feel sad.

Oh and I was off the mark, I said Titans would be the last team to get a win. I guess having VY start shook things up a bit.

Wow, they really suck don't they. When will they get their Boobies-Garcia victory?

Gruden is laughing all the way to the bank, just like he did when he got shown the door by the Raiders

That's my problem with a lot of franchises. They are forced to win now.

There are a lot of great coaches that have had ups and downs, but once they get the players they need, they win. Bill Cowher was great early on, then had good to mediocre teams, before getting all the players together for a SB victory.

Gruden probably needed a couple of years and some good players to win again. I could be wrong, but he did turn the Raiders into winners, and won a SB, so I think if they gave him a chance he may have done good things.

/and tonight the Saints can create a nice wide gap of 3 games

To be fair, he won a Superbowl using a team that Tony Dungy built and the team he played against, he had designed the play book for. I like Gruden, but one has to wonder if he'd have any rings had he not had that very fortunate set of circumstances dropped into his lap.

Considering the Raiders got jobbed out of the playoffs the previous year, I don't think anyone really doubts that the Raiders that lost to Tampa would have been a serious championship contender WITH Gruden. I would suggest that the Raiders wouldn't have collapsed in the subsequent years either, considering how inept a head coach Callahan has proven to be at Oakland and Nebraska.

That is very true. But the team he helped build made it to the Super Bowl also. And even though he had trouble with QBs and other positions, at least the Bucs were wining once in awhile.

I mean you never know what will happen. A head coach has it tough, because he can't do it all. There are assistants that call plays, employ schemes, and teach the players. It's up to him to keep it all in check.

Asst. coaches come and go, players come and go, and a decent coach can at least win games no matter what. He definitely didn't do worse than what is currently happening. ALthough he did end last season on a down note.

They're still not as bad as Washington, Cleveland, or St. Louis.

I still hate them. Not as much as the Pats or anyone else in the AFC West, but they're next on the list.

So the Titans get a win just days after Bullock and Lendale write an apology letter and raise money for the charity that is supported by the Terrible Towel. hmmm...

Bollocks!

If I had not tuned in to MNF this year, I would say that this season proves Gruden is a smart guy. However, the guy gave credit to Belichick for McKelvin's fumble in the first game of the season. I'd like to claim that nerves got the best of the booth rookie, but that was just such an idiotic statement.

After the St. Louis Rams got their first victory of the season by beating the Detroit Lions 17-10

Defeating the Lions doesn't count as a victory.

/only a not-loss

Well, they lost to Washington so yes they are worse than Washington. I'm not convinced they could beat the St. Louis Steven Jacksons either.

//The new GM is to blame; they traded (for draft picks)/cut any veteran talent the team had. They overpaid for both Kellen Winslow and Derrick Ward.
///Down the road, trading Gaines Adams to the Bears for a 2nd round pick will be looked back upon as a steal for the Bears. I still have yet to hear a convincing argument from the team as to why they did this.
////Oh, and one more slashie!! Josh Freeman will be a bust. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think I am going to be.

The only winless team rocking their winless throwbacks?

Getting rid of Gaines Adams makes no sense whatsoever. If you are a young team in rebuilding then you keep your young talent. It seems that there is a lack of talent on the defense especially along the defensive line. I don't get this move at all. Getting rid of Ronde Barber would make more sense. By the time you guys are good again he'll be gone anayway so you might as well get something for him. I guarentee there is a contender out there that needs a CB. I'd ship him out for a 3rd rounder.

That would be astronomically awesome. I couldn't believe how well he played, but I'm not ready to get my hopes up for him just yet.

==================================================

Tell that to the Cardinals. Their division is AWFUL. They wouldn't even have made it to the playoffs last year if the division wasn't a steaming pile of poo.

And the only reason they'll probably make it THIS year is because their division is a steaming pile of poo.

Hey! The Niners are going to suck their way into competition in the West. Just you wait!

I think Cardinals and 9ers are both solid teams this year, just a bit short on inconsistency.

And I know "only a W counts" etc, but you can't ignore that the 9ers were within a hair's breath of beating the Vikings and staging a huge comeback against the Texans, in addition to being the first team all year to manhandle the Colts O Line.

The shiat sandwich belongs to the AFC West this season. Chiefs, Raiders, and (even though their fans mostly don't admit it yet) Chargers all stink.
