"Detroit loses Toilet Bowl"?

Detroit *IS* a toilet bowl.

Well, Schwartz is officially done.

Oh, he's not going to be fired midseason, but he's officially a Lions coach. And there ain't no coming back from that.

I am shocked. I really thought the Rams were the worst team in the NFL.

We are looking at some very, very tight competition for the top-10 pick ordering

I feel bad for Stafford. He was making great throws the whole game but they kept getting dropped. So now it goes on the stat sheet as an incomplete pass. His numbers looked terrible even though he wasn't. I'm sure he'll go home and cry himself to sleep tonight on top of a big pile of money and whores.

I wouldn't be a bit surprise if the Lions win only one game this season.

I watched every game the rams played this year - except for the one against the colts. Their defense isnt bad. Their offense is just so terrible that the D is on the field all the time. Jackson is having a career year. Our receivers are getting better. Not acceptable and not clutch, but better. Our offensive interior is strong, but our outside is questionable. McMichael is a roller coaster of a player. He has awesome moments, but more often than not he's just not getting it done. I love the Rams. I really do. Even if they dont win another game this year, I'll be here till the farkin end.

/go Rams!!!!

Tim Tebow. Rams quarterback. It's going to happen so get used to it.

Bulger sucks.

That is all.

I think that the actual "Toilet Bowl" will be week 14 when the Rams visit the Titans. Let's not forget that the Lions were without Calvin Johnson.

While I agree with this statement, I think Tebow NFL career is going to be about as noteworthy as David Carr's.

Our secondary is shiat. Jackson has 1 touchdown all season. You can run the ball all you want if you don't score points it's not a career year. Our receivers are horrible. We've put all our faith in a "franchise QB" who is anything but franchise.

Look you're from St. Louis, so you've been a fan for what? 13 years? Try 30. the rams will always shoot themselves in the foot.

I watched them invest everything in Jim "Chris" Everette, and drop Eric Dickerson, then invest everything in TONY BANKS and Cleveland Gary. They dropped Jerome Bettis and invested everything in Lawrence Phillips.

The Rams winning seasons since 1995 and superbowl championship was a fluke. No one expected Kurt Warner to do what he did. and when he did, they dropped him and invested in Bulger. Another Rams fark up.

As a Georgia Tech fan it greatly saddens me to see the team Calvin Johnson ended up with. Imagine what the guy could have done with the Patriots or just about any other team that doesn't suck.

Damn. The Redskins had to go and screw up the Lions' master plan!

To be fair, look at the success he had with Reggie Ball.

They did the same thing with Sanders. Great player, no back-up. It's the age old story of the NFL. It was the same way for Marino.

Coach Steve Spagnuolo earned his first victory at any level.

I guess that when he agreed to coach for the Rams every prior victory he had from pop Warner on up was stripped from him on general principles.

You know, the Rams would be a good team for one of the highly-drafted QB's who haven't got a full shot with the teams that took them but still might have something there. It's not like Bulger is a long-term solution.

Quinn counts as one of them, though I'm less and less sure about him every week. Matt Leinart would be the other one that comes to my mind. I know he hasn't played in a while, but I really would like to see him get one more chance. Not his fault Warner became Warner again. And Alex Smith was on this list for me, but now the 9ers have him back in.

I mean, it can't be worse for the Rams than it is now, no?

/Irrelevant though, they'll draft a QB

This makes sense. It'd be better to start rebuilding with a quarterback instead of a fullback.

On one hand, McCoy looks impressive. On the other, has any spread QB succeeded in the NFL?

The Patriots and the Saints run a spread variation quite effectively.

Not that Tom Brady or Drew Brees came from "spread" attacks, but the offense can be VERY successful in the NFL with the right personnel. I've never understood the contempt that older coaches and commentators have had with the offense.

The same thing happened to him at Georgia. Other than A.J. Green (and occasionally Mohamed Massaquoi), none of his receivers could catch the passes he threw. He would hit guys square in the chest over and over, and they would drop it over and over. Granted, he would also overthrow guys by 15 yards sometimes, but nowhere near as often as someone like Tripp Chandler would treat the ball like a foreign object to be avoided. In other words, Stafford's used to it.

Warner was beaten down by the Rams offensive scheme and lack of adequate pass blocking.
Bulger wasn't yet completely beaten down.

Choosing Bulger over Warner at the time wasn't the big mistake, they were both talented, the problem was that they didn't fix the problem of letting their QB get beat to hell.

Bah, the Rams don't need a quarterback what they need is legitamate NFL quality recievers, at least two, and a little more work on the O line. Give Bulger a couple of good recievers that can catch, get open, and get yards after the catch and the Rams would be a good team.

Keep Bulger from being knocked on his ass all the time and with good recievers and the Rams would be a playoff team.

I have to say I was not sold on Steven Jackson as our number one running back until this year, now the man has won me over.

and a little more work on the O line.

Unless we can get some kind of top coach I don't see why we'd fire Scharrz, the guy has horrible talent to coach, namely the lack of an O-Line.

Detroit should go for the win in the draft Ndamukong Suh lottery, then pick up some offensive linemen with other picks and work on building up from there. Get Stafford some protection so the kid doesn't get killed, get a feared nose tackle to replace Shaun and go from there.

Watch his old tapes closely, he does this little juke at the line damn near every time. Countless times he has had the hole close up as he dances in the backfield, where as if he had just run hard and trusted his blockers he could have gained better yards.

This year he is running straight into the hole, trusting the line to open up some room, instead of trying to make something happen by himself. He is a better running back for it. Yeah sometimes he gets stuffed, but more often the not he makes something happen by trusting his blockers.

He has also shown leadership and maturity this year. Instead of whineing, or pitching a fit he has done dam near everything to win.

As if Michigan didn't have enough reasons to feel bad. Redwings collapse in three, two . . .
