Is there a point to this other than trying to discount a Clinton?

Clinton getting punked in North Korea would be nothing new for him.

Now let me ask you this:

Unless the two women are look-a-likes, I don't think he cares. He didn't go there to meet Kim.

Yeah...not really. At best it's slightly amusing, but really not surprising.

Come back when it's verified because one can pronounce his L's and the other can't.

Actually it was George Clinton.

Yeah, yeah. I got that. That was my point: no surprise. The Chonger and his bunch are just up to pulling something like this. I don't care if it's verified or not; the idea alone is just delicious.

The funny is in the fact that a supposed "scary" world leader would fark off and have a double meet with a former US President. That's pretty juvenile and comical.

C'mon...get over the Clinton part and have fun with the unnecessary drama part.

I really don't think the NK'ers would do this to just have a laugh, though.

PopularFront 2009-11-01 10:18:00 AM
Punked? Hardly. Hell, unless Clinton was there to assassinate the little turd, I'd consider not having to meet or even see the real Kim Jong-il a huge plus for Clinton.

In a way, the Norks punked themselves. They can put in a double and no one knows or cares enough about Kim to tell the difference.

FTFA - "The evidence of Kim stand-ins is far from verified"

So no evidence whatsoever just wild speculation and the article itself fully accepts that. Then even if the wild speculation did for some reason happen to turn out to be true, as pointed out earlier in the thread"

"TheRaven7: Is there a point to this other than trying to discount a Clinton?

So wild speculation about a non-story with no evidence to back it up whatsoever is journalism these days? Nice standards you have there ABC.

If it was a look-alike, it was probably necessary because Kim Jong is dead or dying.

Ooooooo, burn on Clinton!

Why would it matter as long as the two women were released?

Atillathepun If it was a look-alike, it was probably necessary because Kim Jong is dead or dying.

Yeah, that was how I took it also, if this were to be true. Not that they showed up Clinton, but they wanted Clinton to see a healthy looking Kim Jong. Which doesn't really make it a 'punked', more a dying regime desperately clinging to their self-contrived world standing.

thamike 2009-11-01 12:07:07 PM
From "a Japanese analyst claims" to "rumors now circulating" in 6 seconds.

From "Clinton is weakening America by meeting with Kim Jong Il! He's hurting America's reputation!" to "HaHa! Clinton got punked by a fake Kim Jong Il! That's f*cking GREAT! Yeahh! Rub that lotion on me fellas!" in a blink of an eye.

Yep, considering the original complaint was that we "gave in to demands" by letting a high level international figure visit North Korea to improve their standing (IIRC, NK turned down the return of the prisoners when it was "only" Gore who was supposed to go), they have to have a damn good reason for a fake to meet with Clinton.

susansto-helit: Why would it matter as long as the two women were released?

Nope, but we can just pretend that Clinton wanted to visit and this was intended as a slight against Clinton, so it proves you should vote Republican.

Gosling [TotalFark] 2009-11-01 12:15:42 PM
Real, lookalike, who gives a shiat. He was over there to get the two journalists, he got the two journalists.

The sister of one of them is going to be in La Crosse on Tuesday; if I get a chance I'll ask her about it and see if she gives a damn.

Well, if there's a rumor circulating, by all means ABC News should post it on its web site immediately. I mean, really, a rumor. It doesn't get much better than that.

Cozret 2009-11-01 12:35:39 PM
Why would it matter? He still helped in the getting the reporters home and this would weaken whatever influence the North Koreans got from the photo op. . .so wouldn't this be a good thing?

RemyDuron 2009-11-01 12:47:21 PM
Uh, who cares? Did they give him reporter look alikes? No? Well, the point was to get those reporters out, not meet Kim Jong Il. All this means is that Kim is way sicker than they are willing to admit.

jjorsett 2009-11-01 01:08:58 PM
For all the good it does to talk to that psycho, you could negotiate with a cardboard cutout, so BFD if Clinton didn't get the real deal.

It just amazes me when people are so willing to accept a rumor like this.

What would NK have gained from Clinton talking to an impostor?

It seems a biatchildish to still be upset about Clinton success.

Though he did just have a 15' statue erected in his honor too.

palisade_hacker 2009-11-01 04:07:31 PM
Considering that Kim Jong Il is basically a figurehead/symbol who is above mortals, it does not really matter whether it was him, his double or an uncannily designed robot - they might as well use a red kite to symbolize Ultimate Power in North Korea and people would still be forced into worshipping that symbol.

RoyBatty 2009-11-01 05:33:19 PM
Right, whatever, we heard the same shiat about Hussein and then it turned out he didn't have any stand-ins.

I think both GWB and BHO have stand-ins and the real ones are closeted away with the Illuminati, Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group and George Soros.

If ABC posts the rumor it on its website, by all means FARK mods should greenlight it with a trollerific headline so that we can all laugh at Bill Clinton. It doesn't get ANY better than that.

cameroncrazy1984: With the size of Kim's ego, there's no way he doesn't meet Clinton.

Unless, you know, he's been dead for the last six months and they don't want anyone to know about it. That's not impossible.

Or it could have been a zombie. Which is less possible, but given Kim's weird "religion" not beyond belief.
