PeTA's gonna have a goddamned field day. If they got all salty about Obama swatting a fly, I'm sure their collective panties are already in a big, wet knot.
After the game Ginobilli said "It flew by, so I took a swing and luckily connected". Ginobili then flung himself out of the locker room, slid backward onto a bus, and tumbled wildly into his suburban home.
TFA doesn't specify, but I'm assuming that was a publicity stunt? Halloween, mascot dressed as Batman... Or is it just fairly common for bats to be in the arena?

At one time birds were big problem, shiating all over visiting teams

In the arena? I'm not sure. In the area? Absolutely. Mexican free-tail bats are very common throughout the region (see the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin), so it's not exactly a stretch to imagine a bat getting into the AT&T Center.
It's almost a dead certainty that someone brought a bat from home and released it as a prank.
Uh no, practically every large venue here has a bat problem at one time or another. We are only about 10 miles from the largest Freetail colony in North America. Additionally, the bat was also at the hockey game the day before.

Bats are common here. Sorry to belabor the point...

There is a Batman costume and net for the mascot reserved for just such an occasion?
