Someone hating on The Doors? Well I suppose the Village People had something to say as well.

That's a pretty hokey vamp. It's not supposed to be a happy song.

I don't know if I like this new 'popular' music from the, so-called, Original Dixieland Jazz Band.

And what's the deal with these medieval bards?

That was the nasaly-ist vocals I think I've ever heard.

I used to like the Doors; but I don't know. I just can't listen to them with any regularity anymore. Besides, this cover was probably the best thing to result from The Lost Boys.

On the other hand, the new Echo & The Bunnymen CD kicks ass.

Coincidentally, the guy from the Lost Boys would have probably played a better Morrison in the film than Kilmer.

That's right, Corey Haim would have ruled.

Sounds exactly the same as the original. How is an exact replica of something better than the original?

The recording is really bad. Ian McCulloch's vocals really come through on the studio version.

Much better - Link (new window) - and an actual 'cover' not just a replication like the link

OK,
I'll jump on this.

Echo and the Bunnymen are a middling, derivative new wave product

You can literally take the drum track from any one of their songs and substitute it into any other song with a tempo change, and the same almost goes for the bass lines as well.

Killing Moon had a nice melodic hook in the chorus..that's it, Game over!!

the Doors on the other hand...

I do, willingly. They're not that great of a band, and NO ONE needs to put a 17 minute organ solo in a son. NO. ONE.
