Eh, not so much.

Aww, somebody's all butthurt over the Doors' music. Isn't that cute?

ekdikeo4 2009-10-31 03:43:52 PM
Pretty straightforward cover, there, subby. fark you.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2009-10-31 03:45:22 PM
Someone hating on The Doors? Well I suppose the Village People had something to say as well.

Tr0mBoNe [TotalFark] 2009-10-31 03:59:29 PM
That's a pretty hokey vamp. It's not supposed to be a happy song.

I don't know if I like this new 'popular' music from the, so-called, Original Dixieland Jazz Band.

And what's the deal with these medieval bards?

Katolu 2009-10-31 04:40:57 PM
That was the nasaly-ist vocals I think I've ever heard.

I used to like the Doors; but I don't know. I just can't listen to them with any regularity anymore. Besides, this cover was probably the best thing to result from The Lost Boys.

On the other hand, the new Echo & The Bunnymen CD kicks ass.

The English Major: Besides, this cover was probably the best thing to result from The Lost Boys.

Coincidentally, the guy from the Lost Boys would have probably played a better Morrison in the film than Kilmer.

That's right, Corey Haim would have ruled.

Sounds exactly the same as the original. How is an exact replica of something better than the original?

FeedTheCollapse 2009-10-31 05:13:59 PM
eh, never liked E+TBM's version much.

HI-FYE 2009-10-31 05:16:16 PM
The recording is really bad. Ian McCulloch's vocals really come through on the studio version.

Much better - Link (new window) - and an actual 'cover' not just a replication like the link

Hey, subby.

Go to hell.

Meetak 2009-10-31 06:04:44 PM
OK,
I'll jump on this.

Echo and the Bunnymen are a middling, derivative new wave product

You can literally take the drum track from any one of their songs and substitute it into any other song with a tempo change, and the same almost goes for the bass lines as well.

Killing Moon had a nice melodic hook in the chorus..that's it, Game over!!

the Doors on the other hand...

Doors fan for 40 years, yet never saw that. Cool as hell.

I do, willingly. They're not that great of a band, and NO ONE needs to put a 17 minute organ solo in a son. NO. ONE.

I'm with you on that. I have never been a fan of Ray Manzarek's style. But to each his/her own.

The last time I questioned the validity of The Doors, it was pretty much the same argument from the pro-Doors side. That is, no one could really identify a redeeming quality.

robsul82: Who the fark insults The Doors? Lame subby.

I do. The Doors deserve a lot of criticism for a lot of shiat. Morrison himself even admitted openly that "Hello, I Love You" was a whorish grab at radio airplay.

Why the hell does Echo & The Bunnymen still even exist? Which one of you farkers is still buying their music or tickets to their shows?

Just because the music of the '90s completely sucked ass does not mean that the '80s are worth reliving.

Neither Echo nor any Bunnyman is fit to wipe Jim Morrisons flat flabby dead ass. And despite the username, I dont really think that much of The Doors, they are just better than this group by light years

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2009-10-31 07:15:44 PM
The Doors?

One of the best. Even more so live

d-fens99 2009-10-31 07:38:35 PM
Screw you, subby. The Doors had a bunch of great songs. Love me two times, Riders on the Storm, Light My Fire, and others. What the hell does Echo and The Bunnymen have to compare? Call me when they're fit to hold Jim Morrison's decaying nutsack.

HarpuaMM 2009-10-31 07:47:43 PM
Hey subby, why don't you go take a bath and shoot up a few grams?

Archfeld 2009-10-31 09:16:36 PM
WOW, some haters here, on both sides. I just love how someones' opinion can be considered wrong, as if a subjective thing such as what music you like could be wrong or right...

I can't be the only one in the world that thinks Arcade Fire rip off Echo & The Bunnymen, can I?

I mean, this and this have the exact same damn strings.

I remember being about 12 and thinking the Doors sucked (of course at the time I adored Andy Gibb). Then I saw a picture of Jim Morrison on the cover of Rolling Stone ("Hot, Sexy and Dead" was the caption) and developed a necro-crush on him and started learning all I could about the band. Now, other than the extended keyboard solos, I can completely enjoy old Doors music. Still wish I'd had a chance to see Ian Astbury tour with them.

Yeah, whatever you say. You just stick to New Kids On the Block.

fark off farktards. I like both. Nothing more pathetic than rabid nutsack-licking fans.

Your band rocks so much harder than The Doors! Can I have your autograph?? Oh, wait, you're just a little nobody with no band and nothing but criticism on a message board. Hm. Fret not, maybe someday Echo and The Bunnymen can make YOU listenable one day. Heh... little nobody... heh, heh.

Do you really think anyone's ever the slightest bit interested in anything you ever say or do, Doors fans?

richard1138 2009-11-01 06:33:12 AM
Can't say I'm a huge Doors fan, but that sucked. Not because it was a Doors song, but because it just sucked. What is even the point? It's like a crappy attempt at a note-for-note cover.
