Some is, but the generic term "folk music" refers to any music that is spread predominantly by people playing it to entertain themselves and each other (as contrasted to people performing it for commercial gain and/or on royal or governmental commissions).

So genres like blues, bluegrass, country and western are also styles of folk music.
