The Beatles:RB sucked anyway. The jump from medium to hard is like the jump from hard to impossible on all the other rhythmic games. So you go from playing OK to very good on the "medium setting" and then you jump to hard and it's like an insane person has taken over.

I had a fun night of drinking with friends and playing when it first came out, but after that it was just an annoyance. The roommate who used our living room TV to play Guitar Hero 8 hours a day probably put a sour taste in my mouth too.

I hope they put some of the better who tunes in hear, maybe a live show? I'd love to see Heaven and Hell but since it was never recorded in a studio I'm doubtful it will make it.

Wait, what? That is by far the easiest of all Rhythm games on the market or ever made.

I have 100% on every song on Hard (including the DLC).

It is the only disc that I have passed every song on Expert.

Perhaps it the pastels that are throwing you...I know they did me at first.

I'll also gladly admit I was laying it on a bit thick there, and depending on the type of music, a good ol' human drummer (most of whom make tempo errors) actually adds something to the feel of the song. You can actually get that "swing" with programmed drums and have been for a long time now (it's really easy in Reason, for example), but having someone beating on skins is better in many cases.

But I think it's also the case that a drummer who overplays can really fark up a song. Ringo, for all the criticism leveled, never did that. For the type of music the Beatles played (much of it simple pop), a drummer inclined to fill every empty space with his stickwork would have been a disaster.

I read Geoff Emerick's book and I seem to recall him saying that when the Beatles first came to their studio Ringo sucked so bad that the next time George Martin tried to bring in another drummer.

It was for the "Love Me Do" recording session, he did it because he always hired studio drummers, and they never did it again. And it was largely because of his experience recording the exact same song with Pete Best, who was a subpar drummer.

Keeping the beat is one thing. I appreciate percussionists who can play as part of a band: in other words, using rhythms that fit musically with the vocals and/or other instruments. Some of those guys probably don't attract as much attention because it all fits together as part of a whole, but then you start listening to what they're doing and realize it's really skillful playing. Hard rock/metal drummers are often much better musicians than one might assume.
